Anyone traveling near the Barrow Lake or Bramble Woods northwest of Cordor would begin noting a few chilling changes to the area of late.
During the daylight hours, the goblins which frequent the area seem to be much more on edge and seem to shy away from the south western edge of the region, keeping closer to their caves in the northeast near the lake shore. Scattered bones and areas of bloodied grass can also be made out here and there, fresh ones appearing almost every morning.
Just as twilight begins and the sun has nearly set in full, a guttural, mad, howling could be heard drifting up from somewhere in the west that would send shivers down the spine. The very sound seems to send the goblins fleeing into hiding, barricading themselves in their cave each night. Anyone staying out after dark would soon meet with the source of those sounds as they come scavenging wildly in the pitch black of night.
Stories of these occurrences soon circulate among the farmers and other outlying citizens of Cordor, and soon enough rumors would abound about what can be found in the darkness of the Barrow Lake and Bramble Woods.
