Waaaaaaaaait a minute.

Aquatic elves require DM permission to play. Water genasi do not. Can we briefly go over the differences between an elf-primary water genasi and a trueblooded aquatic elf, especially since, if I understand genasi correctly, you can actually be born a water genasi by virtue of aquatic elven ancestry?

Aquatic elves are their own actual subrace of elves that live in the sea.

Water genasi are just X race that are 'planetouched' in some way by some various occurrence. - Aquatic elves wouldn't be cause for this, I believe. It'd need be from some 'water planar' entity in the blood line or being affected by a 'water plane' during pregnancy depending on the legitimacy of planescape stuff.

Also aquatic elves are not amphibious. They have gills and can only remain out of the water for 1 hour per constitution point, after which suffocation starts. I believe the DM permission is a warranty that the player has sufficient understanding of this race's specific features.

Excellent! I wasn't aware of the majority of that - thank you for the clarification.
