Post subject:  Dynamic Areas Question

For obvious reasons, I am asking if the Tradehall in Cordor is dynamic yet, I couldn't find anything listing it as.

And second question, if there's a container in a dynamic area and it despawns, the contents of the container are lost for good, yes?

... Doesn't this also mean that anything sold to Hil'rash gets unloaded also? ... Can we make Areas with major merchants non-Dynamic...?

Apparently not? Or at least thus spake the experts:

I must have really terrible luck, then, because I haven't seen shit sold to Hil'rash when there hasn't been people hanging out in that Area for a while. Well, I'd rather take unluckiness.

I make a habit of permanent loading the trade hall every time I log in. Am I defeating the point of the dynamic system a bit? Perhaps. Worth it, though.

Aren't donations saved to the database, and thus completely independent of the area itself? IE The items are not actually in the chests, just a name is added to the list. That's why you can't open the chest and see the things on an inventory page, or remove them.

I have no idea how merchant stock is handled.

Stores are not dependent on area, so they are okay.

Donations are saved in the DB, yes. THough there's the donation box Rashad puts up that will disappear with everything in it, yes.

Well I was considering putting in for a permanent area change of adding the donations box to the area so it would be there, regardless if I can login Rashad to set it up.

Not sure what to do, where to go from here with it. Rashad's Waukeenar RP is that he's investing in the future with the donations box as a well-prepared and armed adventurer/mercenary/guard cadet/freebooter brings more coin and prosperity to the city, which brings the island that much closer to Waukeen's promised "Golden Age." Plus, obviously it helps newbies aplenty. I've gotten quite a few thank yous in tells from new players expressing how much things like the donation box and Rashad's merchanting have helped them get started and remain interested in pursuing through the early levels.

I think it would be nice if at least one sort of "gathering/trade hub" per settlement weren't dynamic, just so if players maybe had some sort of prop setup, they can safely step away from it to go afk or logoff and have some continuity beyond the countdown time to dynamic despawn.

Any area that has a leyline node, portal destination, or faction bind point is a permanent area; such as Cordor East.

Why not just set the donations box right outside of the Tradehall door?

That works.
