Post subject:  Question about Epic Drops

I have two questions for the dm's and our player base.

1. Why is there no Party loot bonus roll from bosses? It always baffled me and explains why i can't find parties to hunt them.

2. Why can you only kill them once a reset, was it sutch a problem in the old days? Not only that but its now 8H per reset not 4 hours when this was implimented

I'm not a boss farmer, please keep this civil, my point is i'd just love for Boss hunting to become more of a group thing ( as i'm sure that's how its intended), not just 25% of the server doing it and the other 75% looking down on them. Before you ask, yes i actively attempt to form RP parties to hunt bosses, but i always get the same response, its no Use, the drop rate is to low and there is no party bonus.

Epic loot is supposed to be... rare. Hence why one account can only spawn an epic boss once per reset. That's aside from the fact you still have to roll 5 or less for the loot itself. Each member of the party can summon another boss, however.

It was, yeah. To keep it pretty short and simple.

This topic has been around so many times you can easily search for it and find the answers :)

Or we can just answer him. It doesn't take long, and we look less stuck up.

I don't got an answer for this, btw. It just sort of is. I suppose your bonus is that, as said, each PC can spawn in their own once-per-reset.

Not true, you can do it on all your characters on one account.

Though we are eventually going to make it so when a party fights a boss everyone rolls the epic drop chance so you don't have to go multiple times to the same boss; which means you could get multiple epic drops in one go, or one or none at all.

Just as an idea; how about instead of not spawning at all, have them spawn but not drop any loot when killed? They're a good source of XP at higher levels when it's most tedious to level.

It's not a bad idea, but part of the reason we were going to move to a 'roll all loot chance at once' model was to reduce the insanity of killing the SNowbeast six times in a row, or the FGK, etc etc lol. FOr some bosses like Maxi or Darkness or Pirate it can be explained away, but the others it's like 'ogodwaimaiemmershun'

I am pretty sure the once per reset was implemented to lessen the divide between the have's and have-not's, and try to stabilize the economy. The hunter PCs were running around with tens of millions while other PCs couldn't scrape together 100k. It meant that the hunter PCs could drive the price sky high on auctions, and things cost an outrageous amount.

Honestly, I don't see that anything has changed much since I started here, when the one piece of epic loot my PC might be interested in has a starting price demanded of 5million... I just don't bother. :P

I remember when you had to take a queue ticket to kill the Abominable Snow Beast. Oh boy.

I rather epic loot had a very, very, very small chance of dropping from the +4 bin aswell.

Wonderful!! So in other word if me and some other kill the snowbeast we'd all have gotten our once per reset kill + loot drops?

Yep. The idea is to make it so if 6 people go in a party it uses up all their per reset chances and it rolls for all their loot chances when the boss dies. So then you don't have to spend an hour and a half killing the same boss six times.

I had suggested that along time ago, as well as expand the yellow loot system and increase its drops because the types of items are limitless it could be dropping racial weapons and armor or anything if the system is worked on and dropped more from monsters.

More yellows would be great.

+1

When I came back to Amia this was one of the coolest things I thought they had added but I have always been greatly disappointed in how underused it actually is. The yellows are awesome to pick up, even when they are crap.

Just under a year ago, Glim coded up a new dropping system viewtopic.php?p=1271419#p1271419

Apparently it got as far as live testing, presumably on the mysterious AmiaC, and then Glim got eaten by RL before it went public.

Suffice to say, some of us were looking forward to ending the era of solo bossrunning, so fuck you, RL. Fuck you right in the nonfiction.

I still think the muling rule is bullshit and should just be ditched so bossrunning becomes redundant for a hefty percentage of us, but it's better for RP that people don't RP or something so yeah, I'll dream on.

Eh, no thanks. Even at 1%, the amount of drops would be insane.

Hell yes, 1% isnt very very very small at all. We're not limited to percentages, can do 1 in a million if we'd want that.

All my builds are pretty much my own Home brewed, weird, are weak compared to most builds, and have no chance in Hades to Solo any Boss. Took me nearly Two years of Rp to build up my Merchant Company, where my so called Blademaster, was stacked with the best gear and was selling and making millions of gold coins. Was a long boring struggle and lonely nights in Market Halls. But this is another avenue if you have the patience. I distaste Boss Hunting, seemed a waste to me because nothing good has ever came from my time attempting it.

I think the /whole/ Epic boss hunting should never be touched. Never increased nor decreased.
