So I've noticed that starting at Kampos can be very brutal if you don't just head straight to Cordor for starter quests/items, why is that?
Kampos used to have(Atleast to my memory) a lowbie store with some normal stuff that you could pretty much use to gear your guy with basic weapon/armor/stuff, but now there's just the bar and random merchant who's mostly useful for the rope and healing kits.
I know you can get to Cordor simply by taking the carts and walking through the gate, but.. What if my char doesn't want to show his face? What if the carts/boat rides are eating in to his already light purse? The sewers offer another way in through the swamps but you can't really use that at level 2.
So what I'm asking here is: has anyone else been having any trouble starting outside Cordor? Is this really an "issue" to anyone else but me? Should Kampos too have a merchant with the basic gear offered?

In all my time on the server it's been recommended that players start in Cordor for the surface, or L'obsul for the underdark. It is spoken of in the entry mirror dialog before you choose a starting location and the reasons given.
The staff made a bit push last year to consolidate hubs, and shrink server bloat. I don't think you are going to get traction with adding starter gear or quests in other areas. I could be wrong on that. As we switch things over to being fully dynamic the staff may no longer care about the server bloat issue.
Cheers, ~ Ana

There have been a few efforts made to see Kholingen become a starter location back in the day, especially when all the Khol vs Cordor cold war stuff was going on. The starter quests for there got hung up in all the other quest stuff that was in the making and we never really addressed the issue of the surrounding spawns (Dread Pirates will kill brutalize most lv 2's). I would still love to see that happen because of all the dev-work that went into making it more fleshed out and attractive to a wider range of PC's.
Until then, I don't think there's much harm or work in adding a starter merchant to Kampo's. If it's there as an option, it should probably have one anyway.

Wouldnt that also need some newbie quests for Kampo's? Or is it that it's just about concealing identity and you don't mind going outside Cordor for goblin quest for example? Cause for me it's mostly about getting over those first few levels (getting XPs) not about getting all equipment.

It is mostly about not having access to Armor/Weapon/Ghostly Visage, the three basics of low level leveling in Amia.
I wasn't really suggesting on adding quests, my interested was to have access to basic gear at Kampos(Or at all possible starting places, for that matter), ghostly visage not being the most important bit here, but the Armor/Weapon stuff.
Amia Forest gives access to the easiest creeps outside Cordor Sewer rats, but the badgers with their +4 AB and 10+ crits will rip anyone apart without proper starter gear(Even when kited), or atleast Ghostly Visage and a weapon.
