Hi my special ones,

Amia wiki is down apparently THANKS for the PM! Does anyone know when it actually went down? PM me if you want - I can also look at the logs. I keep GOOD backups after the last disaster, going back 6 months or so!

Anyway, the AmiaWiki now also automatically updates itself with git pull every night. That is to make sure that any security fixes get deployed IMMEDIATELY (because the latest disaster was also caused by hackers). The cost of this is that, when it automatically updates, it may break itself and need to be fixed.

Which means I need to fix it.

If someone else of technical wonder (familiarity with linux, shell scripting, php, and the like) wants to help maintain it, I'm open to considerations. I'll need to get references and a stamp of approval from PaladinOfSune if it is someone I don't know (which seems likely).

I need to get it fixed. This is EXAM WEEKEND though, so I hope it is okay if it takes a back seat to exams? And maybe happens during next week? ASAP though, I promise!

Hey Shatuga, yep looks like it went down around then from when I last viewed it too. From a quick look into things (not much to go on other than the error text) looks like an issue with some of the extensions already updating for the upcoming stable launch of Mediawiki 1.25 this month before the official launch of that itself (a stable version IS apparently out but still labeled beta until the official launch date).

Release notes for 1.25 here

Take your time, we're already heaps grateful you still take the effort to keep it running.
And good luck with the exams!

Great to know thanks! I appreciate the clue into the problem. Sounds like a reasonable expectation. Do you think I ought to just pull the beta mediawiki? Though why an extension would not be backward compatible is beyond me.....

I have a bear of a time sometimes keeping the wordpressen we host there in line. Theyr'e all the time wandering off and needing to be herded back. We only host like FOUR paying clients on it.

Oh, and I am the one MAKING the exam in this case. *EVIL LAUGH!* I turned FIFTY this past April! *EVEN MORE EVIL LAUGH* It's actually really hard to make an exam, and I'll be busy with it until the execution time (Monday at dawn). :)

Personally I'd try the beta, from the logs it sounds like that is basically already more or less identical to what will be the "Official" 1.25 launch build for the 25th of this month.

Probably an easier fix than rolling back the individual extensions only to have to then update them all again later this month when the new MediaWiki build hits ayway.

Okay after reinstalling MediaWiki and pinning it to 1.25, and copying over the images, extensions, and skins, it seems to be working now!

I am going to make a few more tweaks. Mainly, I'd like to make sure that you can log in over https instead of http. Note that it is a self signed cert, but that way you don't have to at least worry so much about your password being sniffed while you're at Starbucks.

I am also going to test out the auto update process. Since it is pinned to 1.25 now, it will require a manual edit to change it to a later version. But it should automatically update itself (for security updates especially to prevent us losing what we lost last time it was hacked).

Because of further testing, it may "yoyo" a bit over the weekend.

Lastly, I have amiawiki.shatuga.com running under its own CPanel account now. I only recently learned that you can set up a separate CPanel account for a subdomain. Pretty cool. So it runs as its own user. If someone else wants to help maintain it (and I get a thumbs up from Xavi and PaladinOfSune on it) I'll be glad to give some login info.

And lastly again, just for reassurance, the accounts are all backed up now going back 6 months.

Enjoy!

I'm getting this now.

Where will I post my Laura x Lucius x Gerald fanfic now!? :cry:

Necromancers will always get that. Everything they do is forbidden. So you shouldn't be surprised! :)

(Part of the "yoyoing" I was talking about... should be working now except that I can't tell because the route there from my ISP is also going ywing, worrrgn..... boing... fwap deep.)

Well it works on my phone, which means that Charter Sucks! But I'm sure Charter will get tired of sucking for a little while and give up and go do something else, and I can connect to my own server with my computer again. :)

Hey Shatuga,

I'm having trouble of getting this code to work on the wiki.

Code:
<div class="NavFrame">
<div class="NavHead">'''Title 1'''</div>
<div class="NavContent">
Hello world.
</div>
</div>

<div class="NavFrame">
<div class="NavHead">'''Title 2'''</div>
<div class="NavContent" style="display: none;">
Hello world.
</div>
</div>

Can you help me?

Hey there!

I'm not a mediawiki usage guru myself and I'm not really familiar with the latest on how mediawiki's markup works, but I'll take a look at it next week. However, if you find what you're looking for before then, or if someone else helps, yeah please do post!

Thank you for the response. I think i've figured it out but it's not as nice as the one I was looking at. I think the one i posted needs to be installed on the back end maybe?

Code:
<div class="toccolours mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="width:800px">
This text is not collapsible; but the next is collapsible and hidden by default:
<div class="mw-collapsible-content">{{Lorem}}</div>
</div>

Post subject:  Re: Amiawiki

Yeah for Navframe to function there would need to be the associated JS and CSS content added to the wiki.

Alternatively I quickly made up a self contained chunk of code to emulate the Navframe visuals decently enough instead if anyone wants. Left it fairly simple (apart from already adjusting the style some for looks) in case anyone wants to alter it for their own use.

Code:
<div class="T-custom mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="width:100%; text-align: center; background:#A0C9D7; margin: 0px;padding: 4px; border: 1px solid #AAA; border-collapse: collapse; font-size: 95%;">
<div class="T-head title"style="height: 1.6em;font-weight: bold;background-color: #CCF;"><strong style="margin-left:3%;">Title</strong></div>
<div class="T-body mw-collapsible-content" style="margin:1%;">Hidden text here</div>
</div>
