Hey there!

Been mulling over making a druid / monk / shifter for a while, but something is putting me off, but so far it's just a rumor. I'm looking for someone who can either confirm or quell this thing.

If I shift into a form, while taking monk AC, does restoration unshift me?

Thanks!

Monk AC doesn't work while you're polymorphed, but I've never heard of that one before.

Why would restoration unshift a character? Unless its a strange bug, mechanically its impossible.

Restoration used to deshift, though that has been fixed. Monk AC does function while shifted, though it's a glitch currently being worked on. That said, if you roll a Monk/Shifter -- try to avoid doing the following:

If you buff Wisdom prior to shifting (Owl's Insight scrolls, Owl's Wisdom potions, any items), you will be granted illegal AC.

If you shift into: Vampire, Lizardfolk or Mindflayer, you will also be granted illegal AC, because those forms innately boost your wisdom score.

Note: Neutralize Poison potions after buffing Wisdom will correct your AC. So if you need to buff it for spell DCs, damage scaling, and Spot+Listen, just use an NP potion.

If you have any more questions, feel free to shoot a PM my way!

Don't worry 5star, I know about all that, I was just unsure on that specific aspect. A friend quit his d/m/s because of the specific problem, and I didn't want to work on my RP if the issue still appeared.

I've seen the restoration bug unshift a monk shifter before, but it was so random that we couldnt pin it down. I believe it's been fixed, but then again you might encounter it every now and then. Certain pc's have requested abilities that if you get too close to will unshift any shifter as well.....

Hi There,

Sorry to prod this thread but it's more a curiosity thing about something mentioned. I don't have a shifter so not too understanding on the rules, but..

Why do you get illegal AC from buffing Wisdom prior to shifting?
And Same with the Vamp, Lizard or Mindflayer

I'm not quite sure why it is illegal.

It's for balance, really. If Monk bonus AC from Wisdom was granted to all shifter shapes then everyone would play a monk/shifter and they would be horribly OP. The 'why' in this case is a bug that's being addressed.
