Hi guys! Forgive me if this doesn't go here, and I couldn't find anything, but I read something about drow sacrifices, and slaves wanting to know more about these. I'm somewhat new to the server coming from Arelith (Mostly by a friend) but...
Anyway, as I was reading. I saw that IC (was shown in a screenshot) drow sacrifices are permanent death, with or without consent wanted to know if this was true. Because, I don't feel like getting anywhere near a drow then :3. I dun wanna be stabbed or something, sounds painful.
As to the slaves, I hear you request characters, but that makes me wonder about an aspect from Arelith (And a screenshot of RP coming from this server) is if players are capable of being captured as slaves (even for the inevitable sacrifice.)
Anymore information you could give on this would be greatly appreciated!
Indeed, your character cannot be forced to be permakilled by a drow player or anyone else.
A full time drow slave is a requested only character, with a level cap of 2, you cannot capture a normal character to keep as a slave forever, perhaps only a temporary prisoner.

Permanent death of a character can by applied by DM in the course of an event, for example, or other circumstance within a story arc wherein a PC attempted something high risk and failed, resulting in the consequence of their death in such a way that it would be impossible to resurrect them. The final chapter in that character's story has been written.
All other instances of death would be only indefinite - so if your character was chopped up into little pieces and scattered to the four corners, they could still be brought back to life through the use of DM oversight of powerful spells such as True Resurrection. Players cannot force the permanent death of a character upon anyone; there is always a way back, however the return may still require a good amount of effort and cost, and probably allies to make it happen in the first place.

This doesn't seem like the best way to handle it. There are cases where a character is a bit of a loner or is relatively new and doesn't have many connections. Forcing it into DM oversight effectively permakills these types of characters.

Just start playing them again after a reasonable amount of time's passed, players cannot force any kind of permanent death on to another PC without the approval and oversight of a DM.
Laura could turn someone to ash and bury them in a cold iron casket in the middle of a dead-magic zone and I wouldn't be bothered if they were running around two days later.

Most new characters as such are not a giant problem that one goes out of their way to dispose of the remains that it warrants a DM to raise them, just the common courtesy of staying away for a bit ((AKA as not hitting respawn and showing up 5mins later)) so its not a big problem.

True Resurrection has always been DM oversight/permission. All I did was frame it to the scenario of what that means.
Now, that said, unless it actually matters, most of the time people don't even bother because if the characters who murdered someone in such a thorough way don't tell the DMs about it, then what was the point of being so thorough anyway? What story does it progress? What purpose in the narrative does it serve? Since we're not a hardcore server, if someone is randomly PvP'd and their body thrown into a volcano (???), we're not actually going to stop that person from hitting respawn and just paying again. If it was during an actual event or the like, that might be a different response.
Is that sort of inconsistent? Yes. That's how it's always been done in my observation, though. It means that unless it matters, it tends to be hand-waved so that people can continue to RP beyond what might have been a random incident.
On the other hand, ICly, they should figure out a reason they were brought back to life - which can be awkward and forced. So there are issues no matter which way it is run. There is no good or easy answer that satisfies all of them, and we just do the best we can somewhere in the middle of the extremes, making the most extreme things needing DMs to know about and/or give OK for.
