Amians,
As part of a project I have been working on, I would like to enlist your aid again. And since there may come a time in the future where I ask for the same thing again, I might as well go ahead and create a General Discussion thread that I can update as the needs arise.
Why bother, you ask? No, I am not offering fabulous cash and prizes. Just my gratitude. You may then take pride in the fact that you contributed something to the module that becomes a detail others read (as some of you did for the Travel Agency in the new entryway). I may even come to the writers who submit something for future projects and other small things to lighten the designer workload with some crowdsourcing.
Just as before, I will be editing the entries I select as necessary while trying to maintain the original idea and voice as best I can.
There are five items that I am looking for a new description for, and one that I am looking for both a new name for and a new description for. Since most of these are tiered items, the description should be written ubiquitously enough that it can apply to any of the variations of the item (+1, +2, +3, lesser, greater, epic, etc.) The description should really be no more than two sensible paragraphs, and the very best entries are the ones that incorporate either some local lore (feel free to be creative on that) or some good old fashioned Forgotten Realms lore into the description, since many of these particular items are "bigger" than Amia.
I am not looking for the best written entries, mind you, although that makes my job a lot easier. I'm in the market for the flavor, for the idea. Therefore, even if English is a second language for you and you feel your submission may lack something in the grammar/spelling/punctuation department, don't sweat it, I got that. If you think your idea is cool, small though it may be, that's what I'm most interested in. Something that stands out or is particularly clever and memorable.
The five items I need help with are:
Cloak of Protection:
I need a better description.
Cloak of Resistance:
I need a better description.
Cloak of Fortitude:
I need a better description.
Amulet of Natural Armor:
I need a better description.
Scarab of Protection:
I need a different name and a better description. "Protection" implies AC bonus, but that's not which this item does, and Scarab of Resistance just sounds awful. On this one, you can pretty design an entirely new amulet and call it and describe it how you like, so long as you remember that the description should reference something about the bonus to saves. Ideally in a more flavorful, descriptive way than a mechanical way.
Do not post any submissions here. Send them to me privately. Not all of your entries will be selected, because really I can only take one for each, and I'll be taking the one that I think is ideal for the item. Don't beat yourself up trying to do this, either, because that only makes it all the harder if it doesn't get selected. Just do your best and try to have fun with it, and thanks for anyone who opts to submit something to me.
Otherwise, I'll just write them myself. (But I want to give others the chance to do so and contribute so that we can all feel we're taking a degree of ownership in the server in our ways, creative or otherwise.)

If there are any other takers, I'll be making a decision sometime tomorrow, probably.

Not as much as I would like, but hey, it's on a volunteer basis, so I can't expect the world.

I have what I need for what was listed above, but I did receive some replies in my PM box over the past 24 hours (thanks guys, you know who you are!) who had some good ideas. If I don't use them for what was above, I'll be poaching the idea and applying it to something else.
Without being spoiler-y, this is something I've been putting a lot of time into as a Designer, but if I do the entire project myself, I fear it loses a lot because then everything is just stuff from my narrowly creative PoV. Different people have different ideas, and even just the submissions I've gotten have been like breaths of fresh air and, I feel, will really help the project pop.
That said, there's not much I'm looking for atm, but the project is far from over and I will likely be returning to this thread with some new needs, so keep an eye out.

The new lootbin is very nearly complete, but I was hoping somebody might have an idea on where to go with the Cloak of Protection +2. Sure, I could copy/paste the original description for the +1 and leave it the same, but why not invite someone to stake a claim? Your description for the Cloak of Protection +2 could take this original description and expand upon it, moving it into the future. Or it could start completely from scratch and attempt to explain the origin of a better Cloak of Protection. I don't exactly know what will work best, but I will know it when I read it. So feel free to submit any ideas you have in my PM box, knowing that even with the idea I like I will probably take it and make some edits to it (attempting to keep it as close to the original as I can). And thanks to anyone who contributes, whether or not it is used! (If there are multiple ideas I like, some may be banked for future iterations of the item.) Quote: Cloak of Protection +1 +1 AC
Searching for that extra level of protection to ensure the safety of his kinsmen, a dwarven shieldsmith of Barak Runedar paid handsomely for the assistance of a skilled mythal forger to imbue his shields with powerful magic en masse. However, the mythaller was not as gifted as he had lead the smith to believe. In an unfortunate and bizarre accident, the shields completely lost their integrity, becoming about as strong and sturdy as a ribbon in the breeze.
Infuriated, the dwarf abandoned the shipment of ruined items and set to work crafting replacements. What he did not realise was that these "shields" were still capable enough of deflecting blades and halting arrows mid-flight, but by the time the properties of these garments were discovered they had long been circulating around the Isle.

Also I have 1 submission for the Cloak of Fortification +1, but I would like to see if anyone else has some other creative ideas. You know the stats already: +1 AC, +1 Universal Saves.

Cloak of Fortification request is served, just waiting the rest of the day to see if something for the Cloak of Protection comes in.

Is a Cloak of Fortitude the same as a Cloak of Fortification, or something else?

I've never seen the Cloak of Fortitude. People who care only about the Fortitude are often calling Cloak of Fortification a Cloak of Fortitude.

I am looking for contributions to another project! This time it involves screenshots and, if you are so inclined, sketchwork (or artwork!) of various structures and areas that depict any of the following: The Tritemple District of Kohlingen (the fountain, the seven stars, the guards, the NPCs, the marketplace, city hall, the church, dragonstone keep courtyard, dragonstone keep exterior and interior, the temple of triad's light, statue of bahamut, sunite shrine, etc.) The Greengarden District of Kohlingen (the roadways, the buildings, some of their interiors, d'Cordor manor grounds, interior if possible, NPCs, guards, geographical features, feylake, celestial grove, mystran shrine, etc.) Close screenshots of Justicar Cystana, Haulfast, Sir Charles Navare, the Naiad Any waterways in Kohlingen Anything of apparent local or historical interest in Kohlingen Things to think about:Consider the artwork/sketchwork/screenshots from an IC standpoint as though they were to appear in a travel guide. Likewise, consider the artwork/sketchwork/screenshots from an OOC standpoint as though they were to be used to attract people with varying degrees of familiarity with NWN. Consider the artistic or "photographic" value of the image. I would choose the ones that I think have an "artist's eye" behind the lens (or pencil, or cursor, etc.) Please!:Make sure any artwork/sketchwork/screenshot is easily presentable in a format that won't stretch the window. Panoramics are suitable if they can be done with style. I will do a certain amount of editing myself, but if I have to really go out of my way to do so, it may not be featured. Make sure I can easily copy/upload the image into photobucket for link and presentation. Include whatever accreditation you want to use for the image, and I will make sure it is presented that way! PM me any submissions. Do not post them here! Thanks in advance to anybody who wants to contribute! I can answer any further questions or clarifications as needed, just ask me here.
