The design and dm teams will be providing a new type of addition for the community in the future. Headed by Yossarin and myself, with support of designers like Jes, the Amian Herald will be a Campaign Setting Accessory that will cover the lore of the regions of Amia and Ruathym. For each release, we will focus on a city or region, that will cover the life, culture, history, beasts, geography, points of interrest and other interresting information.

Inspired by the second edition Forgotten Realms releases of Volo's Guides, we hope that in time we will be able to flesh out a great deal of the server in a fun read for the playerbase. When we start with a project, we will announce it's focus and welcome the help of you all. For example, if we started with the island of Brogendenstein, we would welcome contributions like a write up of the local orc tribe or fearsome snowbeast, the history of Barak Runedar, the culinary traditions of the dwarves, or the local herbs that can be found there.

Written as interresting and lighthearted travel guides for the adventurer, we hope they will contribute to make this server an even more interresting and enjoyable experience for you all.

And unlike the Travel Guide entries I had asked for a month ago or so, this resource will be a perfectly IC work. There will be room for some content provided by the players, often in the form of articles written by their characters with an IC editor doing some polishing afterwards. Many PCs are liable to be "experts" in a given field that is relevant to that issue's release, so it does make sense. Even some material already published in the Library could potentially be reprinted in this publication.

That said, do not send unsolicited articles to any of us. For each issue there will be an advertisement or prompt that gives some focus for what kinds of articles that are relevant to the area detailed in that issue. Sending an unsolicited article about the life and times of the Snorris in Forrstakkr when the upcoming issue is about Kohlingen is bound to have the article binned because of a lack of relevance for example, with no intent for us to hold it until maybe one day we do an issue focusing on Forrstakkr.

Oh cool, might be motivated to do IC contributions.

I am currently working on a travel guide and had even spoken to staff about it previously. Wondering about the Item Creator and if it would work to distribute travel guide pamphlets on demand to PCs. While I had not intended to get quite as in detail, such as dwarven culinary arts, I kind of feel like this was taken out of my hands and vamped up. I readily welcome this idea but perhaps have more player involvement so the travel guide doesn't just come out of nowhere randomly passed out by NPCs? As the ranking clergy of Shaundakul on Amia, I would like to be involved in this and allowed to contribute the work and roleplay that I have already put into it, if that is an option.

Obviously, another option would be to simply remain separate and have a competition of sorts for who comes out with the better guide Although, Walker's would take decidedly longer, as she doesn't have ready access to the numerous areas of all the isles, quite as easily as staff Either way, I think this is interesting and could promote a lot of roleplay for us exploring rangers that have something worth contributing.

Sorry that you feel that way MOD, though I can assure you it is not the case.

I have been looking for a way to get the amian lore all properly written out in detail for the community, as it has bugged me immensely that something like it was not yet available. I had begun such a guide for Kohlingen a year ago, that I never gotten around to finish. With my laptop crash, I lost a lot of progress, which dampened my enthusiasm for quite a while.

Doing it as an ic style release with 'The Amian Herald' was my idea to do so in a fun and interresting way for those working on it, and because I really enjoyed Volo's Guides. The idea to do it as a cooperative work of the design and dm teams is simply to not just toss it in the DM court, and demand them to whip up all of the nicely written lore I want to sink my teeth in.

I hope that places this project in the right context, and does not make you feel like we just put a new spin on your idea to take it over.

Yeah, your idea and Pony's grew independently of one another. I know his has been percolating a while due to his frustration with the lack of solid IG setting material that seems to shift like the desert sands when DMs need to do a little inventing. As is told in the apocryphal tales, I once wrote a massive write up in the Lore forums about Cordor and Kohlingen and Wharftown and was starting on the Dale when the forums were attacked and all of that material was lost along with my heart and my desire to go through that again.

But it has been long enough now, I figure I could give it another shot.
