Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who has been making my time here fun. First online gaming community I have found where literally everyone I encounter has been polite and respectful as well as volunteering to help.

I would list names but I am afraid I would miss someone. So anyone who has either talked to me in tells, answered questions, helped me restore heads to people, and just helped me build a foundation for a character I am enjoying immensly. Sincerest thanks. Some of you took time out of your day to walk me through stuff how to get the game to not crash every couple minutes or how to build a character that didn't die 9 times in a row on goblins like my first one lol. If any new people see this please feel free to msg me on forums or in game if you need help. I would like to pass on the kindness shown me. Hope to see you guys when I get on after work in... 6 hours!

TL:DR Thanks bros you are teh awesome.

My absolute pleasure! When I'm having a rare moment of not being swamped (or I'm standing there hating my lag), and if I see a login I don't recognize, I like to say hey. I know what it's like nor knowing how things go or knowing anyone. Most of the time, new names are alternate accounts.

I'll be on around the same time as well and I can show ya how to RP using the dice and the like.

Thanks guys. I can't play a Drow or Dwarf :( I am just a non subrace human. Need to see more of the other races before I feel like I could RP one.

Psssaah! Of course you could! That's how you learn - By diving in and hoping you'll survive the fall!

Drow are easy and the community is friendly to the extreme. We'd just be happy to get more friends to play around with.

Currently we're working towards rebuilding a city for the more extremists Drow on the server due to a massive catastrophy that happened before. Our old city was attacked by .. (no spoilers!) and we had to evacuate! Now we've fortified on a gigantic fallen stalagmite that fell from the feeling roof of a MASSIVE cavern and now functions as an island.

There are two dominant houses (The Lolarox and Ussen D'Vhid) which subtly battle for domination and a military academy, The Vanguard, Which functions as the settlements militia. The Vanguard consists of members from both the houses (And other non-Mentioned houses) and it's almost mandatory for all drow with some martial or magical training to enlist: Otherwise you put shame to your house for not serving, Right?

We've just recently finished one of the most massive tasks I've ever been in - We have made an elven STEAMBOAT which we now use to move to and from the settlement in explorative missions and of course day to day trade.
Since the settlement lies on the edge of the middle dark and the lower dark (There are 3 levels in the underdark - upper/middle/lower) we occasionally experience nasty creatures and get attacked by their minions.

This was a CRUDE generalisation of what the underdark is and what's going on - I hope I caught your interest!

With love!
Svensk

Wanted to update this diary style thread...

Katia was invited to help assist someone with Gibberlings. Not to give any spoilers let me just say: I think that whole experience was probably the most fun I have ever had in a multiplayer game. Everything from the RP of my group to the layout, design, mechanics. Who ever worked on that area if it hasn't been said: Huge thank you! I downed the LK in WoW on heroic 25 man and it still wasn't as fun as this dungeon crawl. This makes me glad I quit WoW before Cata and tried to broaden my computer gaming experience.

Second the Orc quest was a very challenging quest but in a good way. Maybe I did it underleveled and geared or maybe perfectly leveled and geared. The regular spawns were pretty easy, so much so my group and I could focus on RPing the fights whike they were happening. The miniboss and final boss however were strong enough that there were several close calls and when they finally went down it was a feeling of accomplishment. For Katia in general at the time the miniboss almost killed her and the final one almost got her twice but her group triumphed and as a player it made me feel like my character had just completed a fight that pushed her to her limits and she found a way to overcome. A very awesome sense of satisfaction. Thank you to those who worked hard on this one as well.

The playerbase still astounds me with veteran and new players alike being friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I have experienced so far has been a feeling of brief uselessness. Katia tends to be broke most of the time and when she dies and is rezzed I feel bad that some other player had to sacrifice what would be a significant fortune to Katia to rez her. Katia has made a lot of friends IC and they have all helped her a lot with healing supplies potions and even her first non mundane weapon but I want her to be self sufficient. Hopefully I will figure out how people get enough gold to buy rez scrolls and healing kits and potions. I think my next post will be my experience with the job system. That might solve money shortages. :)

The job system can be a good way to earn some gold and XP safely. Of course, some jobs are better than others. I only have one char that ever used it in this way, and not a great deal.

I have found that running through the lowest level hunting area a couple of times until you can buy your +1 or +2 gear, to be the easiest path. Though I can't say what that would be for you "wastelanders" (as I usually play Underdarkers). My very first investment usually consists of one or two ghostly potions and one or two barkskins, then by the time those are used I'm well on my way.

Welcomes and feel free to yell if I can be of any help!

~ Ana

Welcome!

Definitely take a look at the job system. And ask around in game about jobs. I got some very helpful advice and there a jobs for every character imo.

Don't sweat it since low levels are usually strapped for gold. One of the early quests provides you with a raise scroll. And frankly giving a party member a raise is a small price to pay for the fun I have. I'll bet I'm not the only one who thinks that.
