Is it best to wait until you've finally decided on final companion or can you change at level up and the reskin is just reapplied to the new companion. Also, everything about the companion stays the same, it's just the appearance that changes correct? |

If you change your companions base race, it will break the reskin. Also we have a thread for general questions. |

Quote: If you change your companions base race, it will break the reskin. Fairly certain this isn't correct otherwise every time you got a new level your re-skin would stop working. |

I believe he means if you change from say Panther to Bat it'll break it. But staying Panther the other way through wont break it, even if you level up. |

Yep, that's the question, would start out with dire wolf or panther and at some point would probably end up with a brown bear. So do I need to wait until the switch or start the process early so that when switch the final time the details and rp of the reskin has already been completed. |

Start the process, explain what your doing in the request, get it approved (They'll say DMIG at the end) then apply it once you've settled onto that final familiar I would guess? |

It won't break it no matter what companion you have or how many times you change it or even over a rebuild to a different character. For those not in the know every single level of companion is it's own blueprint in the toolset and has a unique resref and tag. Our widgets re-skin the creature after summoning to avoid complications related to this, so irrespective of the companion/familiar chosen the creature skin-change will override the skin. |

I... didn't know that. I know the dm team want it to be related to the skin you're overwriting but also thought it had limitations on it mechanically. |
