If anyone is interested in starting a clan with my new Ogrillon Aazog, shoot me a pm, holla at me here or in game. Must hate humans and we elect new leaders only through combat and assassination. True carnage is planned (sorta). |

Just read and this is cool but primarily looks for gobos only/mostly. We should do a orc/gobo merger and really cause pain. |

Too specific. I prefer the WAAAGH! philosophy... Not saying you have to believe all of it, or that it all applies to Toril Orcs but... yeh. Quote: Ork behavior is dominated by the WAAAGH!, a gestalt psychic field they generate that affects the Ork psyche, which allows Orks to instinctively recognize who is "bigga", and therefore who is in charge, since might makes right in Ork society. All Orks generate this field, and it grows stronger as the Orks enjoy themselves, generally while fighting, and as more of them congregate together in one geographical area. The WAAAGH! helps give momentum to the Orks' planetary assault campaigns, which are also known as WAAAGHs! (the Orks like to call a lot of things WAAAGH!s). Such a WAAAGH! is a cross between a holy crusade and a pub crawl, with a bit of genocide thrown in for good measure.

| Post subject: | Re: An Orc/Hob/Goblin clan |
As much as I'm a huge fan of Warhammer Orks, they are very different in philosophy to the orcish subraces of the Forgotten Realms. The Waaagh! mentality doesn't really work for them. In Warhammer, the warmongering brutality of the Orks comes from a racial instinct to fight and thrive from fighting. They grow bigger the longer they live fighting and sheer size is considered a privilege of status along with scars and the number of teeth they have. Orkish society also works around two principles: the first is the more teeth you have, the richer you are. The second however is that bigger is better. An Ork Warboss in Warhammer is generally the boss because he is the biggest, meanest, toughest ork in the warband who has the most killiest choppas/klaw, has the loudest, shootiest shoota, possesses the largest battle wagon or bike with the most red paint on it (which makes it go faster) and who has the most heads on his boss pole. Not because he's the brightest or smartest. There are exceptions to this naturally such as Black Orcs in fantasy (who still abide by the bigger is better rule) and Big Mek Klans in 40k but generally this is the case. In the Forgotten Realms, the orcish hatred of all other races is as much a religious one then it is a cultural one. In orcish folk lore, the rest of the gods (including the Seldarine) took all the good land and left Gruumsh with nothing. Gruumsh then smote the ground with his spear, creating caves and badlands for the orcs to inhabit and vowed to take what he was unrightfully cheated from by force. The other Orcish deities all work with Gruumsh towards this goal, but they are very different in their philosophies towards it: Baghtru's worshippers prefer fighting their enemies head on, charging recklessly with no plans or strategy, just pure violence and bravery. He's favoured by Ogrillons and Tanar'ukks because of this. Illneval's worshippers, generally Orogs and Grey Orcs, are more tactically minded then their other brethren who favour cunning strategies, better weapons and brutality to win battles. Shaargas's worshippers on the other hand prefer culling the weak from the darkness, using the unforseen death to strike blind fear into their fellow tribe members, their rivals and sometimes their enemies. yes, orcs (particularly Orogs) have assassins in their culture. And finally, Yurtrus's worshippers are the reaping wind, using plagues and diseases to cull the weak and harden the strong in their own ranks. They also have the added benefit of using these diseases against their enemies too... sometimes. Orcs are also divided into subraces in the Forgotten Realms and in their culture, size isn't everything. The general rule is that if an orc can back their strength with a cunning intelligence, they will prevail over their rivals. Because of this Ogrillons and Tanar'ukks who are the largest and most violent subraces of orcs are rarely ever leaders. Orogs, Grey Orcs and even Hob-goblins on the other hand who are stronger, incredibly indrustrialised and intelligent compared to the rest of the subraces, are rarely not leaders if they are present in a mountain orc force. But then again... no-one can deny how entertaining the Waaagh! mentality of Warhammer Orks is. If you want to implement something similar, then go for it. I just think the FR orcish elements are just as good in their own way. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the elves and orcs born from when Corellon and Gruumsh fought from when each of their blood hit the earth? Anyway I prefer the Realm orcs having never played Warhammer. |

I'd really love to do some really creepy stuff as a cleric of Yurtrus (even Gruumsh won't bother the guy if he's taking too long in the toilet), but he's not supported in the deity system here is he? |

The Elves also say that Corellon ripped Gruumsh's eye out during the same battle, wheras the orcs say he only ever had one eye. Its all the same in the end: the orcs hate the rest of the world because Gruumsh was denied what was rightfully his. |

Arcadence wrote: but he's not supported in the deity system here is he? If he's a legitimate Forgotten Realms deity (in some FR book on the pantheons, or in a core book which says it also applies to FR) you can just play it anyway. The deity system isn't normative and doesn't set the limits of what exists in the world; rather, things get added to it as necessary. If there is a cleric of a deity not yet featured, you can just use some placeholder deity and request an idol to be added. There are literally hundreds of deities in the Realms, not all of them even mentioned in any one place (some of them nowhere, probably), and most of them will never be worshiped by Amian PCs, so no point putting them all in. |

Like Iron said there are tons of gods not supported by Amia. And not even all of them are beast gods like Ilsensine (Illithid), Sekolah (Sauhagin), and Blibdoolpoolp (Kuo-toa)(Though these gods are excluded for obvious reasons) they're even missing human deities like Ubtao, and alot of the god-like Devils, like Baalzebul, Glasya, Mammon, Fierna, Belial, Bel, Dispater, ect. |

Actually, I used to play the only (or at least the first) Yurtrus worshipper on Arelith, and I can tell you from what I researched of Yurtrus (because I wanted to get it absolutely right) that you're sort of wrong, Arcadence. Yurtrus clerics and shamans actually determine what food is poisoned or disease-ridden for their tribes, and ensure that the tribe is plague-free; they also heal sickness in warriors that have been injured in battle. They use pestilence and disease to strike at any that are not in their tribe, but they use their abilities to help their tribe and keep it safe. It's a really, really interesting religious group, and I highly reccomend it for anyone interested in playing a divine magic user orc. It's really fun. |

No-one will willingly play a female orc whose sole duty is to serve the males. Only Drow players are crazy enough to do that because they have the chance to backstab them later. |

IronAngel wrote: If there is a cleric of a deity not yet featured, you can just use some placeholder deity and request an idol to be added. So I could just fudge in a similarly domained/aligned god and let a DM know about it and I'm ok? Galenson wrote: No-one will willingly play a female orc whose sole duty is to serve the males. It'd make for a really interesting character that can influence clan politics...and then once the adventurers come in die really horribly. I'll take the case!...if the Yurtrus thing falls out. |

If you used Gruumsh as the base deity, it shouldn't be a problem considering the circumstances. Gruumsh is the patriarch of the entire pantheon and every orcish deity pays fealty to Gruumsh. |

I am interested in this but I have a few questions which I had posted in another thread with a similar goblin/orcish theme. First will this clan eventually be filled with dragon winged gobos who speak perfect yet sardonically inflected common, who spend their days sneering down (up...) at folk at Bendir Dale? Second will the roles and status of races like Ogrillions and Hobgoblins be in keeping with the lore that such creatures have in regards to gobos? I have an mechanically based ogrillion character that is ICly more Ogre than Orc and played as such, that I would love to see in the company of some excellent gobos but not if its going to turn into anything like the first question and/or nothing like the second question |

Hobgoblins and goblins are welcome of course but it isnt a goblin clan. For the winged part, I sure hope the hell not. Aren't there enough dragon disciples? No this is orcish culture at it's finest which is to say savagely evil. By the way, got that devotee of Luthic;) |

Noct'uul wrote: Are 1/2 orcs considered Underdark races? Should I look to start on a certain server? half human half orc If they live amongst humans they are simple outcast, second class citizens. If they live among orc tribes then they are bullied and have to prove themselves. They are usually smarter than most orc and have a possibility of rising to leadership of clan if they prove themselves stronger and more cunning than the current leader. According to the orc handbook they can be played as either orcblood or manblood. Manbloods look more human than orc and orcbloods the opposite. |
