Indulge my curiosity if you don't mind please

choose the one that you feel most accurately reflects your general preference across whatever characters you have.

The poll question refers to the area that you first come to after leaving the Entry Area through the mirror, where you have bound your character to start at (or the default locations if applicable).

My main starts at a faction base (Oakmist Vale), and my alt starts in Cordor and is unlikely to be in a faction.

If Winya and the Dale count as "big cities," then that's me.

Big cities, Barak Runedar on B and Kolingen or Bendir on A.

I start in Cordor as "starting" city, because it has the quests, then I set individual starters.

One of our faction bases is inside a settlement, and thus my starting point is there. If I can help it, I always spawn the closest to 'home'.

I, like P Three, start in Cordor for the quests and then change it to better suit my needs (Bendir/Shadowscape)

Same as P Three and nadzieja7. I choose cordor and then skip town as soon as i have done the quests.

I think you should add "Triumvir" as an option answer. Since it's not a big city or faction, still it's fine starting location since there're lots of places you can actually get from there, including Cordor, Bendir Dale and Winya.

As many are saying, i start with default area (typically Cordor, excluding my Eilistraeen) until i have completed startup quests and purchased decent gear. After that, reset to "home" area. Shrine interior for my Eilistraeen, Bendir Dale for my hin, Oakmist Vale for my druid.

It changes depending on whats occurring on where my character most likely will be. At one point in a city, another time it was in Amia Forest. I'm putting down "Big City" as that is where it is currently, though generally it is where there is RP, and a likely location for my character to be. (Almost always start at Cordor though, then move on)

Tarkuul 99% of the time, unless I'm on a bosshunting spree then I use the wilderness.
I have chosen faction area even though Tarkuul is a city.

Depends on the character's current preoccupation. If it's a max level character, it starts in its "home area", such as Tarkuul, Underport or L'Obsul. If it's still leveling up, i often have the current hunting ground as starting location.

Marked as 'big city.' Though for most of the time since I joined the server, that would have been 'faction base.' (Monolith of Mystra, then Kohl Keep.)

Big city too, I suppose, if that is what Winya would count as. All though I did have one or two PC's who started off in the wilds (A druid and my unseelie feything in Caraighs wilderness)

On new characters it has been Cordor both times and both times that changed when I joined a faction, after which I prefer to spawn in the faction area (Though I am pondering setting it to Bendir or Cordor North for my druid.)

Usually the default areas, then I very rarely set foot into them again after that.

I chose 'Faction Base'. This is the 'rule' when it comes to choosing my starting points for my characters, bearing in mind that rules are meant to be broken, or so goes the saying, meaning that I don't /always/ set my starting point as such.

That said, and I've asked this before I believe, and wonder if it's possible still: Is there a way to change the #1 option to something different? Eg: My main /never/ and I mean /never/ goes to Wiltun unless he absolutely HAS to, and that's a pretty severe 'has to' I might add. So the #1 slot for me is completely wasted for me. I set my Amia B start point to Shadowscape, and haven't changed it in MONTHS, and when i do, it's only for a quick change to save the charge on my wand, then i change it right back to Shadowscape. I'm sure there are others that find themselves in a similar situation.

I have been told by a DM that it can, so long as it's a another optional starting location. But, then, I've been told by another DM that you can't :/

Personally I'd rather see players being able to request any location to be slotted at #1. I can understand not having new chars be able to start in Zanshibon or wherever, but it'd be nice to attune your level 25 demon-bound BG to there, or something.

Always Triumvir. Give kobolds better starter locations than kampo's, or put some nice starter gear vendor and other stuff there, rather than in the quagmire cave. >:c

Cordor for the starter quests and i always tend to find other *new* players there to team up

When do I not.

I set locations which are closest to what I need on that particular character. In most cases this ends up being Kampo's, because it is central on the island and 2-3 transitions from pretty much everywhere.

My main doesn't even have a portal wand. The sheer amount of RP through the lack of it. *Thumps up*

Usually my racial starting point because I'm a huge racist.

I start in the Triumvir because the Triumvir is awesome!

i have always started at faction base if possible, then i usually burn a mythal charge getting to the wilderness, then a mythal to the city i want to go to.

but i only play drow,

The trium because with all their portals I can go to whichever one I need to from the start with saving charges on occ pkrtaling
