whenever i try to select my character i am booted.
recently reinstalled nwn and the .hak is installed.
i have a new cd-key, is that it?

You're using a fairly popular pregen CD key that we banned at one point in the past.

Yep, you can just grab a DM to activate your CD key. Make a new character and grab their attention pretty much!

with my new keys it's loading ingame but still boots me, however it's letting me get "closer" to playing than those pregen keys.

Yup, now follow what Silent posted and you'll be set. Make a new character so it'll let you through, and just ask a DM online to authorise your key.

well i just got ingame with my new character, started typing up my request in the chat and then got booted, now i can't log in to a character again.
