As the title of the thread indicates, this is where I ask anyone more experienced with the Scribe job/system for some pointers on how to format descriptions into truly epic walls of text detailing every single thing about the item in question. I've seen a similar description on a short sword one Samrael Cymere has, and as I'm (still) trying to finish a project for the character, I'd really like to make it shine when it's finally done.
So, what do I do?

The quality of the description isn't necessarily in the formatting. It helps, and good formatting is a significant component, but I've found that what really makes any piece of text 'shine' is the way you use your phrasing, the words you choose and how you've decided to structure them in your sentences. It needs to look natural and the words need to 'flow', for lack of a better term. That's what makes good imagery. Formatting can ensure that a well-constructed description lives up to its potential, but you need to create the potential first. I've found that, unless everything you've written in the description is intentionally chosen to serve a specific purpose, it won't properly mesh. I'm not very good at it, but that's my take.

Thanks. I would dare say that I am rather proficient with constructing the meat of it in such a way as you describe. I'm really after the formatting pointers, so that it's not a massive unbroken wall of text. Similar to the commands we employ to construct our bios in game. That's what I'm after.

I can't remember off hand, but I'm fairly certain the scribe table tells you them (and that they are pretty similar to the bio changing ones)
Edit: And, having just looked, I believe to add 'formatting' you use ds_j append (into shout channel) with nothing on the end and will add blank text, which serves as the aforementioned formatting.

They don't really go into much detail. ds_j name, ds_j bio a, and ds_j bio append, are the only commands they list. Whereas for our character bios, we get linebreaks, overwriting and adding to, as well as reverting to a new one. Is there a linebreak command for Scribe tables?
Edit: I should hit the refresh button some time. XD I'll give that a try. Thanks. I hadn't thought of that.

/s ds_j name Awesome item name /s ds_j bio Text. /s ds_j append /s ds_j append More text. /s ds_j append /s ds_j append Even more text.
Just use the "/s ds_j append " as separators. There is a limit of characters that can fit in one paragraph, so you gotta split your text into neat chunks. I can't give you the specific character length of one paragraph, but it's somewhere around this paragraph i just written. Maybe a little bit more. Like so. There.

Thanks. It seriously never occurred to me to try that. I don't even know why, either. Ah well. Now to test it on a scrap weapon so I don't screw up the one for my project.
