Post subject:  Job System questions....

Alright... I understand there are three ranks for each job. Each gives an increasing chance of success for any attempt made. Now, lets say for armorsmith or weaponsmith, does it also limit what you can make? For instance, can a Rank 3 Weaponsmith make things that a Rank 1 cannot? Or, do they simply have a better chance of success?

Also, question on the Scribe job.... What does one gain for 3 ranks over one? Simply more XP? Also, is there still a percentage chance of failure for scribing an item? And.... can you change the name AND description of an item or just one or the other?

I plan on my latest character, Trey, getting into weapon and armor making, but, before I dove in, wanted to know how some things worked.

Thank you for any help!

Nope, a rank 1 crafter has the same range of options as a rank 3 crafter. The % chance of success and the size of the XP reward are the only differences.

Maybe also it should be mentioned that for weaponsmith and armorsmith rolls, your job rank determines your chance of creating a thing with the cute little "Quality: Excellent" tag, which can give your crafted stuff just slightly better bonuses.

Can the tailor copy the robe model to another armor?

Does the quality rating really matter though? It looks like you can just change the quality note by using the scribe job.

The quality rating stays after you scribe the description. It's set as a power, rather than in the item's bio. So technically you can remove the quality rating at a mythal forge (I've done it!), but having that rating can give a bit of umph to the item - especially where DC requests are concerned!

It matters to a lot of prospective buyers. Trust me. Some demand nothing less than 'excellent.'

Damn picky people.

But yes, quality matters, essentially!

It has a mechanical effect, too, in some jobs. Crafted weapons that come with "+1 vs Shapechangers" or whatever, an Excellent quality item will get +2 instead. Excellent quality mithral armors get a better weight reduction. Et cetera.
