| Post subject: | Hello Everyone :) |
I've been perusing this server for the last few days. I've heard of it before and have often thought of coming here but tended to favor NWN2 servers. I've finally decided to give it a try and have a few questions. First of all, my biggest question, this setting is custom lore, right? It takes place within the FR setting but on an island that doesn't exist in the cannon. Second, how much can players' character's influence the world? By this I mean are there nigh endless possibilities or is there a greater story run by the DMs that takes priority over the players and the actions of their characters? Third, is there any sort of NWN character builder available online? I've used nwn2db.com for my characters in the past and I guess it could serve for up to level 30, but there are many differences between the two. Fourth, are there any skills that don't serve a purpose here? I accidentally put points in ride already with my first character after finding out there isn't a supported mounting system. Any others I should be aware of? Lastly, I got a build and background question in regards to a character. It's not for one of the app subraces or PRC classes, but the unique nature of character might prove an issue. Is there a particular DM I should get in contact with? I think that's all for now. It's nice meeting everyone. |

Yeah, Amia is a custom Island. A character can influence things in game greatly, it just takes the time, dedication, consistency and effort! For a number of things you'll need to screenshot in game progress or have DM oversight and have it approved and such. Amia is constantly shaped by the players and also DM events. If you look on NWvault there is a downloadable module for levelling a character if I recall. It's something along the lines of 'Character builder' I think. Any DM should be able to help with a character concept, though - But if you look at this topic: viewtopic.php?f=112&t=55945 - it has a list of DM's and each explain their areas of expertise. And lastly, welcome! |

Weeeeeeeee welcome 1) Lore is probably best described as semi-custom. Amia is a created island (not sure about the Ruathym area, but I think so as well, and also Brogendenstein) but the old lore/timeline is intact. Essentially the timeline skews before the god awful Spellplague and such. 2) A lot, just depending on how you go about it. Jes' character Zelly is an awesome example: she created a company that has had impacts across both servers, including aiding in the additional construction recently done in Kohlingen. Certain things might be blocked by a DM, same as PnP, but we have influence, for sure. 3) I usually use a character builder xls that I have loved for a couple years now, I don't think there is anything like the NWN2 builder though, sadly. 4) Ride is the only one. Social skills are less important overall, though DMs will require social skill roles sometimes. Player-player interaction has no regulation saying you must use Bluff/Persuade/etc. However, they are still nice to have. Also, for the latter point, you could likely request a delevel to get the points removed if they bug you. |

The module I mentioned is called 'Pretty good char creator'. Also, like Naiv said the skill rolls are only required when a DM says so (DM events, NPC interactions) and the only roll I know of that is enforced for Player to player interaction is Grapple-checks (I think there are a couple of others, too, but can't remember.) |

Don't do that, don't listen to them and download some silly old module. It'd take too damn long to edit the module properties of that silly thing to include the Amia hak. Just create a new module with the wizard, add the most recent versions of the Amia hak to it as custom content, and start it up with your desired character. Then you can use the console commands to add experience, remove experience, and alter the abilities at your leisure to simulate Amian subraces. |

Pfft, screw that. I went old school and edited the xls to add Amia content. That was fun. |

Just take note that even with the Haks, your own mods won't be able to do everything Amia can. The Hak doesn't allow you to use some features of the classes that were modded (PDK that was changed to KC, for example) because some of their abilities rely on scripts, to my knowledge and all the custom changes won't take effect in your own mod, like the spell nerfs/buffs, Dev Crit change and so on. |

See our build thread.... Also I like seeing New folk focus more on the rp instead of the building character side. Realize you just want to not suck or feel wasting skills but still hurts my soul Yoss is also a boy he has giant mustache. |

Oh trust me, there's a lot of RP behind this build. It's why I wanted to get in contact with a DM as soon as possible. As for the skill thing... I'm a bit of a perfectionist. It's not really that important, but it gets on my nerves after so long. And sorry about the gender mix up, Yossarin. I was going by your avatar. Thanks for helping me out and I hope you find it intriguing. Edit: And no, I didn't incorrectly spell "diamond." I crammed Daimon D Heart together to make a single word for my username. :p And I don't do the DaimonDHeart thing. Looks too odd. |
