| Post subject: | DM Events for a newcomer |
I am new to Amia, well a few months now, and my character is almost to epic levels and I find myself getting more and more interested in the DM Events. My only problem is I don't really understand how to involve myself in them. I have read some of the shorter DM event threads and I have come to have a few questions. 1st: Can anyone who is honestly interested in joining a DM event post a relevant "story/scene?" 2nd: If the answer to the first one is yes then do I just make up something that seems relevant and post it. 3rd: I assume there are IG activities, but I have no idea how to become part of them. An aside: I have seen Anthony the crazy shadow kid, but I obviously didn't have any great interaction with him, but do I now include myself in the Event. I am sorry if these questions sound silly, but I would like to incorporate myself into Amia a bit more then I have and I think these events will help me do that. Thank you in advance for any answers or clarifications you can give me |

You include yourself in the event if your character is interested in digging into the situation. Joining DM events is purely an IC happening and should not be done OOC just to be involved. I've turned down so many DM events because it didn't fit my character. Find the one that your character hears about and is interested in, then work with it. Ask around in game, maybe do a little IC research (PM the DM who is running the event to see what you can find out through whichever channels you're using if you want to ask NPC or look through libraries). |

If you want to get involved with DM plots, I'd suggest establishing your character in a particular area and staying there for a good while. With that the character builds influence and thus there'll be a strong reason why they are motivated to get involved in an event that pertains to that area, as well as a strong reason for the DM why they ought to be involved heavily. It makes for a much more enjoyable experience in these events when the character has something at stake, rather than the good old: "I was there when... Along with a dozen other randoms." |

Feel free to try and make your own events too. DMs love player initiatives. |

Decided to use my old thread to ask this related question. Are DM Events geared mainly to lvl 30 characters, or is there a place for all levels? |

Depends entirely on the event really. |

Not trying to spill any beans, but folks might want to watch the skies for some shouts tonight. |

Doesn't matter unless it's in a combat zone way above your head, and even then it may not matter depending! I've jumped into a few quests where I knew combat was out of the question for my character, but that doesn't stop me from trying to contribute and be a part of the RP. It's really up to you what you try to involve yourself in as long as you're also willing to accept the consequences. |

I'm currently involved in this whole Brog affair only as a level 7. And I'm doing my fair share of planning, healing, assisting, etc. Most combat I've found, from a player perspective, involves creatures that are catered for level 30's. This isn't always the case, mind. But it -does- make sense. If there's a large party involved, odd are that most are level 30. And if the DM wants to present a challenge to the majority of the players, that DM will create monsters that will provide difficulty for that ECL. And the very nature of a level 30 server is that the level 30's are reaaally far ahead of level 10 and unders. However! In a long DM campaign, such as Brogendenstein, you'll find that there's a lot of things lower ECL characters can do. And if a DM is involving you in a smaller, spur of the moment event, you can safely bet that it'll be more catered toward your levels. But again, this is a case by case thing. No two DM events will be the same. But this is my -general- take on it. |
