Question 1: Is there anyone that can give me an idea of how a wizard does at lower levels...especially alone. I would ask in game, but my shifter really doesn't care about the plight of lowbie wizards.
Question 2: I plan on requesting the shadow weave for my character and therefore will focus on enchantment, illusion, and necromancy spells as much as possible. Is it possible to survive by casting a majority of spells from these schools?
Question 3: I have read the forums about shadow magic and the requirements for requesting, but I haven't found anything about what happens when you use it mechanically in game. Are there any mechanics that are implemented when you are approved or is it all rp stuff.
Thank you for any answers in advance

There are no mechanical differences IG with use of the Shadow Weave instead of Mystra's Weave.

1) Wizards with ample cash do well at lower levels because of the availability of higher-level scrolls. Wizards have it easy leveling in general, really.
2) Yes.
3) Shadow magic and the use of the Shadow Weave aren't the same thing keep in mind. Shadow magic is the manipulation of shadow tied in with the shadow plane; the Shadow Weave is an alternative to using the Weave for worshipers of Shar and other naughties that choose to draw their power from it. Mechanically most wizards have access to shadow magic as they have shades, darkness, shadow conjuration, etcetera in their spellbook just from vanilla NWN.
Assuming you mean the Shadow Weave, mechanically I don't think there are any special changes or whatever that are for those characters to represent their use of the Shadow Weave, but you should keep in mind that any spell with the light designator wouldn't work period... So light or sunburst, for example.

Thought of another question
Can I request..in the future of course..to have all my spells look shadowy or is that too much work?

Too much work. Besides, shadowstuff can be shaped, and colored at will by the caster in the case of shadow magic. That's why the fireball from shades is still orange.

Altering the appearance of spells is something that can be done as an override (to suit your own tastes) but there isn't any way to get NWN to use a completely new model for let's say, a shadow magic missile. So anything you alter visually will also affect spells cast by others that may not be shadow magic at all.
Something else to consider if you want to make a visual override for personal use is that some spells share a particular texture, so if you plan on altering one spell only you will need to alter the model (let's say for a magic missile, because I remember how to do that) to use a new texture. Even then, if you fire off an ILMS or IGMS it will use that same model because well, there's only the one programmed.
The textures also tend to use black to do transparency, so you need to be careful to preserve black in textures where needed else you can end up firing blocky-looking magic missiles (hooray for 8-bit nostalgia but, no) at your enemies.
Oh yes and some models use more than one texture (magic missile uses two) so you need to do twice the work.
