Very soon we will have a small hak update. It contains some (updated) stuff that's also found in various override packs. My suggestion is to clean up your override folder when the hak arrives. The stuff that's included is found in these packs. Strip 'em if you got 'em.

Okay, so I'll ask the question. :)

Any other teasers? Judging from those links, the updated haks will contain lots of nice new trees, which is great. Anything else we can look forward to? Or is this one just all about making nature look prettier?

It'd be nice to have some decent human male ones... :? Human female is the cream of the crop, but the male one is chocked full of everything save human males.

It's the trade-off for the males having all the good (better) voice sets. Female voice sets are lame!

Post subject:  Re: HAK update incoming

Let's see... I have been working on this off and on for the last three months, so I am not 100% sure of the contents any more.

- Extra forest tiles for the Rural Summer set, which makes it possible to get a nicer transition to the forest tileset
- Updated looks for rural summer and winter (new trees, and better grass and rocks)
- Some extra VFX for spells etc
- A few new weapons
- A few new creatures
- A ton of new inventory icons
- A megaton of props

This hak is mostly aimed at builders, but you will all see some major improvement to old areas right away.

when you say, clean up your override, does that mean i have to clean it all up? make it a empty folder and then install the new hack?

Author:  Dev Disco [ Wed, Oct 31 2012, 10:45 AM ]
Post subject:  Re: HAK update incoming

It means clean up any stuff that may come from the packs mentioned in the first post. As a general rule of the thumb: if you find anything with a name that starts with either ttr01_ or tts01_ you probably have those.

Post subject:  Re: HAK update incoming

You can download the hak. I'll update the module one of the coming hours or days (depending on schedules and people), and if you have this already 'installed' you won't notice a thing (except that half of Amia looks very different).

Just to be sure: you only need the little update if you already have the current amia hak pack. So don't download that 300+ MB again, unless you're new. Once the new hak is running I'll update the bigger packs so everybody new gets the update as well.

You'll find a folder called "without new roads and rocks" in the update. This contains a copy of the override hak without the new roads and rocks. I'm not really sure I like them myself, and now you got the choice. No fancy new rocks? Just exchange the override haks.

ok, i have a bunch of these files, ttr01- and tts01- must i go one by one deleting these off the override?
is there a easier way to do this, or is it going to crash my nwn if i forget to remove one or two? are these all i have to remove?

I don't mean to press this one needlessly, but some (read: me) may be on a bad connection stolen from some unknown person's unsecured wirless network and can't handle redownloading the full hak package. Is there any way we can get this fixed so those in the same boat can hop in? :D

Bleh... I don't know what I was doing this morning, but it sure wasn't right. Fixed that too.

Those are the ones to remove. Probably some .mdl and .wok files and two .set files.

I made some error while cleaning up some stuff, and now there are a few icons missing which gives nasty white quickbar squares. Throw this in your override folder for a quick fix:

You were only suppose to delete those four things there if you had them. :)

Easiest way would be download them, drag and drop then delete all the files you just added and replaced. Save time from manually doing it if you have the internet connection for such an option.

Yeah, I really like the trees as well. They're made by Helvene, but I tinkered with the textures and foliage and made a few extra variants. It really makes those old areas look fresh again.

I assume by you saying 'quick fix', the hak itself is going to be fixed at a later date when you have the time? The hak update's only been out for a day so far, so it doesn't seem like a bad thing to cut losses and re-upload a fixed version... of course, I say this not as the one who needs to do all the archiving program crap. :D

The override of the rocks - is that the override that changes the cliff faces to be an ugly looking orange colour, or is that a part of the entire hak?

Yeah. I've had the Rural Trees override for quite some time and it makes the forests so much more appealing - not to mention difficult to move through (e.g. Thorny Hills). :D Plus Disco added a whole bunch of other trees (see the Bramble Woods particularly).

If I want to avoid the orange cliffs I should use the smaller override hak, which also excludes the new roads. However, if I do want the new roads but with Toro's stone cliffs, which of the overrides above should I keep? The 3rd (rural) & 4th (winter)? Will any of the files in there conflict with what's in the new, small override hak?

Author:  Dev Disco [ Tue, Nov 06 2012, 19:36 PM ]
Post subject:  Re: HAK update incoming

Take the hak with teh orange cliffs and open it with nwhak.exe. Delete the cliff texture and there you go. You can also add some of Toro's stuff to it.
