Ooo, shenanigans! I'm a big fan of those. Care to give a tease as to the nature of these shenanigans, or where me might wander to get ourselves good and shenaniganned?

Nope! That spoils the fun There will be a gamut of shenanigans taking place, so several spots will be hit and many people involved. And I'm not saying any more

Just to give folks an update, I've been a lot slower to respond to messages and threads and such the last week and I apologize for the delay. I've been getting things wrapped up at work so that I can enjoy 9 days off starting after my shift tomorrow morning (9 very much needed days off...) in which I'll be just chillin' at home with a few stiff drinks, doing some stuff around the house, catching up on Amia and maybe golfing with the folks. Also have a few Dev projects in the works that I'm hoping to buckle down and get finished during that time. Among other things, you can look forward to a new low level dungeon in the near future with at least three (if not more) new quests, including one that will be a repeatable turn-in to generate some hard earned gold at low-levels. Stay tuned for The Gibbering Maw

Recycling this thread, since some missed my other post about it in the BRB thread: I'm down with a really nast flu right now, thought it was starting to get better but today wasn't a good day. Still going to be on the mend for a bit, so feel free to keep PMing me stuff and whatnot but any replies will be slow at best.

I'm going to reuse this thread because I don't think it's something that needs it's own glaring thread, but it is something that needs to be said.
Have some patience guys.
Thankfully folks I've been dealing with myself have been very understanding about a bit longer of a delay than usual in me getting back to them over the holidays, but I've been seeing several instances now where other people have been far less courteous to my fellow staff members. And to be honest it's starting to get my knickers in a twist.
It's the holidays. DMs have lives too (we do, honest) and we like to spend time with our families and loved ones too (or even just getting to that vacuuming that we've been putting off for a month or two). Now that the holidays are more or less over, things should start to get back to normal, but some folks just need to cool their heels a bit and give the staff a chance to do their holiday stuff too.
Please be respectful of the fact that during the holidays, answering the ten PMs we get in our inbox each day, or the dozens of threads we normally read each day, might not be our priority during that time period.
You don't need to respond to this post, but please do keep it in mind.

I can finally see the bottom of my inbox! Actually getting caught up fairly well now, but I know there are a few things I haven't tended to yet. I still have a few bookmarked that I've yet to go through that I will be doing so shortly, but just to make sure I don't miss anyone this is an open "bump" for anyone that has something left outstanding that needs my attention. If you do have something that needs my attention that I haven't tended to yet, please send me a PM with the relevant information. Cheers!

After taking a break due to some serious burnout, I'm back and ready to jump back in the saddle. Expect some random events here and there, as well as some renewed "life" in Tarkuul.

What can I say, I like to recycle my own threads (that doesn't sound awkward at all...) At any rate, I just wanted to both give folks a heads up, and to ask for their patience. A fair few know that I suffer from migraines on a fairly regular basis and while thankfully some tasks to do with Amia I can slog through with some of the more minor migraines, I've been getting more and more of the not-so-minor ones over the past few months. It's started to affect my day to day life a bit more and I've had to make some changes accordingly, to really crack down and try to work through the health issues. I've given myself a midnight curfew, making sure I take breaks from sitting in the computer chair every so often, making sure I eat more regularly and all that boring life stuff. On top of that I have a job that actually requires me to work while I'm on shift now, as opposed to my last one where I could spend 6 out of the 8 hours on the forums here. So that's cut into my time as well. And as you know, there's more work to be done on the server than ever. So bottom line here is, I beg your patience with me. I might not be the most readily available anymore, I might not be as quick to answer PMs or threads as I once was, etc but I assure you all that each and every one will be addressed as time and health allows. (and no, I'm not dieing, you won't be rid of me that easily )

Had 3-4 weeks with no migraines in sight and then a pretty rough time this past week, hence my absence. Things are getting better to be sure though and I'll be getting caught up on all your PM messages and such over the next few days.

As many of you who interacted with me on a regular basis as a DM before have noticed, the last 6 month or so my time / drive has been really low, my presence DM-side almost non-existent. I've found new inspiration however and am getting excited about DMing again.
So I'm going to give this a try: mornings my time are still going to be geared towards Dev work for the most part, but my hour or two (or three if I'm feeling really creative) after work each night will be DMing stuff. This will still just be stuff to do with Tarkuul, but I'm going to start doing it justice again.
I won't be taking requests just quite yet, have some existing stuff I need to finish up for players who have already been waiting, but then I'll get to new stuff and running events again even.
Hope to see ya IG!

I've passworded Server A temporarily to complete an event, as it was crashing too often to do so. My apologies, B is up and running for those not in the event, and we'll try to be done soonest.

What if I re-designed the entire area on my own already, and have a completely ready module?

As things stand, you need to be on the Dev Team to have your designs used. On one side, there is always a concern things might be snuck past. On the other, it can be quite an amount of work checking the area to make sure all of the correct boxes are checked, tags and resrefs do not act up, etc.
That is of course, unless a DM has worked out something else with you.

Dead, I've already told you that I will check the redo of the Velsharran temple when I have time. It is not a priority as there is nothing wrong with the current design and it's just a "spruce up the place" redesign. It's not something that has been approved by the DMs of Tarkuul and so does not fall under Jes' initiative. Pony is right about the policy (one you've been around more than long enough to be aware of) and I do not appreciate you trying to go around me like this when I am accepting it as a courtesy to you being that I was the previous Tarkuul DM. You have a temple, the Jergal temple has been waiting months to even be built at all. The Velsh temple "spruce up" will get checked when it gets checked, and not before.

Sorry you feel that way. Just had to get some answers to my questions. You know I'm reasonable enough when stuff is actually explained to me. But when all of my questions are met with dull silence over the extended period of time, I just have to look for my answers elsewhere. Being ignored is most likely the worse thing a player can experience on Amia, and you have been around long enough to know it. And though I have been around long enough myself, you cannot assume that I know all the policies of Amia. For instance I had no idea about this one. Otherwise I would be an asshole to ask it in the first place. What I am is basically a player who is trying to take any approach, to do anything in my power to save some of your time, and take the load off your plate. And I wholeheartedly do not appreciate the fact that my good will to invest my free time into making Amia a better place is being viewed as if I am being a pain in the ass. I am not telling you this as a player to player, nor as a player to a DM, I am telling you this as a human to human.
Anyway if you are interested into my point of view, and actually care about what I have to say, my PM inbox is merely one click away. You can always check what's wrong. Sorry for bothering you with my "I-am-here-to-help" thing. Won't happen again.

Human to human, the time investiture is appreciated, and is one that I am more than familiar with. I would have said, "No thank you," to the redo of the area if I didn't appreciate the gesture. I wouldn't be overseeing the Dev Team if I didn't appreciate such willingness to spend time on making Amia better, on the part of others.
When you ask me new questions, I'm usually fairly good at acknowledging them at the very least, but one can only say, "I will check the area when I have time" so many times before the "reminders" become mere pestering. And yes, at that point, it does become a pain in the ass; not much worse than being ceaselessly prodded about the same thing, when you have dozens of other things that you also have to work on.
Even if you were not aware of the policy, Jes's post specifically states only areas that have gone through the request and DM approval process. The fact of the matter is that I did take a cursory look at the area last night, but between scripting this morning and work this afternoon/evening, I hadn't had time to gather my thoughts and put them into a PM reply to you.
So I will be sending that to your inbox after I finish writing this. There is only sincerity when I say that I'm sorry that you feel slighted, human to human as you put it. Between this which felt like going behind my back, and your generally vitriolic attitude of late, I trust that you can see from whence my reaction sprung.
I will move these posts to my Shenanigans thread, so we can clear our clutter from Jes's thread.
