Well if it's a graphics issue it may be your graphics card. Can you run Windows 7 in safe mode well enough? If you can, you likely need to update your graphics card driver (your computer is unlikely to come installed with the very latest one). If the graphical problems are making it impossible for you to use Windows 7 out of safe mode you'll need to use safe mode with networking and download the driver for your graphics card.

If you're not sure what graphics card you have, click start > run and type dxdiag and check the display page of the screen that pops up. If that doesn't work, go into your control panel > system > device manager and check under display adapters.

If none of the above helps, could you at least tell us what graphics card you have?

p.s. This thread should be in Off Topic :p

Please be more specific about what issues you're having. Graphical issues and installation issues are handled entirely different with Windows 7. Give us as detailed as you can, everything that's going wrong.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M Ver 269.59 is the card and the driver version I am running.

The bugs specifically is I cannot all the items in the inventory and I do not see transitions (zone spots) for much of the area. Plus when I put on a helm it looks like I have a bag on my head.

The problem isn't with your graphics card, it's with your game files.

Make sure you have the newest hak files.

You may also wish to download some optional override files here, as among them are head files which may cause headless people if you don't have them.

This is very good advice. Also, to elaborate, if you think you have the latest files, delete what you have, and download fresh. Make sure you're hak files are 3b and not 3.

Well, if you overwrite the old haks with new haks you should be okay even if a few old unused haks remain, as the server won't ask for those and they'll just amount to wasted space on your hard disk and nothing more. With overrides, however, if you have old and unused overrides they will still be used, albeit without function and that can cause things to go wrong.

Actuallyyyy, there are some specific settings to adjust in your nvida graphic card control panel, for nwn specifically, that will help lots. ( I use Windows 7 too and had some performance issues)

I'm sorry I haven't memorized all of them, it's been literally over a year since I tinkered with it.

Threaded optimization needs to be off...that one I remember. It stops unsupported multicore tech.

Also increasing a setting that allows additional ram to be used was modified via a txt (ini?) file in the game folder.

In the past there have been issues in game when the setting 'environment mapping on creatures' is on, try turning it off.

I hope other people know off the top of their head the nvida stuff and post the specifics. :D

...if not, tinker with the settings, see if it changes. Be sure to restart nwn to make extra sure the various changes are in effect. If something has no noticeable effect, set it back to default to avoid causing any issues.

-and yes, run admin mode in a compatible windows mode. Like 98.

None of the above 'sounds' like it is directly causing your issue, it sounds like a hak issue indeed - but this other stuff is useful!

Windows 7 doesn't ship with full backwards Direct-x support.
