Not sure if this is in the right forum, but hey ho...
My character is a rogue - but not the sort whose on the cut and thrust end. Aside from enjoying a bit of orchardeering.. (she's a halfling...) I was wondering if there were any jobs that catered to the idea of breaking the laws on Tablet A of the Cordor Law Blocks (specifically, supply of false documents)
Basically is there a forgery job to be taken/ is there something that would be seen as an acceptable replacement?

There is not a specific job for forging documents. But I quite see this working with the scribe job. An accomplished scribe could copy official documents without effort and even forge autographs and handwriting.
Burglary might be less in line with the character. I would like to see some halfling conmen as well. However beside perhaps an element of performer I don't think the job system supports those.

I agree with Dergaii, A scribe would be the closest relative to a forger you could get. Perhaps with DM oversight they may let you use your shady scribe skills to falsify documents. Burglar is kind of yucky just because you're not stealing, you're misleading. Just find a combination of jobs you think might have their talents combined into what you want to do Bluff is great to add to your RP validity for anything shady and manipulative Just remember as far as conversational buffs, rolls arn't always enforced as law, but are in most cases treated as respective. Like if you ICly almost have my character convinced to believe/follow you in your logic, but I'm kind of on the fence, and you get a high roll, I'll by in. If you get a low roll I may fall out. Just please please please dont roll and say "Whelp, I rolled a 20 + 30 modifier, you fell for it, without any form of verbal IC attempt at persuading me, it makes me a sad panda. Not saying that you would I've just seen people who do this and it just kills the immersion and fun for all involved

Just hearing that makes me all Don't worry. I wholly intend to keep RPing and IC wherever possible. Is the scribe job accessible to lowbie characters? (as in, can I find an instructor without battling the legions of hell?)

As you mentioned Cordor. It is very accessible. Look for the heart of bureaucracy and paperwork of the Commonwealth

Thanks. I'll try and sell them some Apple Juice whilst I'm there.

In a discussion on conversation skill rolls a while back, quite a few people suggested it was a bad idea to roll any in interactions with other players. Some people won't want their character to be conned, and if you roll bluff you essentially give them metagameable info. Plus, I think it's much more fun if they don't know on both an IC or OOC level where this is headed. Coupled with the fact that it's not necessary in the first place, I more or less entirely avoided it.
Basically the content of what you're saying and how you're actually saying it should dictate whether the other person is swayed, not numbers. You can be the best bluffer in the world, but you could never convince me that that I have 7 hands.
Good luck with your job search!

I agree with the thrust of your argument wholeheartedly, however I'm going to take some points in it since A) Combined with Scribe to Forge Documents and such, it'd work B) There are always NPCs and C) I will take the points in order to have a legitimate basis for RP involving telling lies that have a chance of being believed.
