As I have noticed there is no faction for Velsharoon I have decided to try and create one myself, The faction itself will be on a mass recruitment drive so if anyone is interested either PM via the forums or Message me in-game, my character name is Nezarian Black.

P.S. Just so you know I did gain approval of doing this by DM Tormak

Recruitment Details

To join one of these devisions you just need at least one of these classes.

The Decayed Ones

Classes - Wizards/Sorcerers/Palemasters

The Decayed Ones are those who have turned to Velsharoon to expand their knowledge in necromancy, whilst they aren't the most important figures within the church they are still highly respected. A decayed one will dedicate their time to the libary, they will assist in rituals and perform experiments to achieve goals set by the Prophet.
Ranks

Palemaster

The Palemaster is one who has become one with death, they have adepted their bodies to be more like the undead they study and are masters of Necromancy, they are highly respected within the Church of Velsharoon and it has been deemed unwise to cross one.

Necromancer

The Necromancer has completed their studies into Necromancy and have earned themselves the title of Necromancer, they may have an apprentice however they still have a long journey before they gain the respect they deserve.

Apprentice

The apprentice is a wizard or sorcerer starting their studies into necromancy, they will have a single necromancer who they will learn from and assist in experiments and research.

Scavengers of Velsharoon

Classes - Rogues/Rangers/Shadow Dancers/Assassins

Scavengers of Velsharoon are essentially grave robbers, they will go out and collect corpses for the Decayed Ones and to study and experiment on however, they have been known to be scouts and deadly assassins to carry out the will of Velsharoon.

Assassin

The assassin is most likely the most deadly blade within the church of Velsharoon, to become an assassin is an impressive rank to achieve, an assassin swears an oath before the prophet of Velsharoon that they shall never fail a mission, they are executed before the idol and reanimated as a mindless slave for a grave robber.

Spy

A spy will be sent out to gather intelligence on hostile threats, they still from time to time collect corpses for necromancers but this is a very rare occasion. A spy is sometimes offered the chance to prove themselves by taking out a target and bringing back the corpse, a spy can progress to an Assassin by completing missions such as these but spies have been known to progress through other means.

Grave Robber

The grave robber is the less respected being within the church, they are seen but never heard. A grave robber will recieves orders from necromancers and will follow them out, should the grave robber fail in their task they become the corpse the necromancers required.

The Chosen

Classes - Clerics/Wizards/Sorcerers/Palemasters
The Chosen of Velsharoon are the back bone behind the church of the vaunted, it is considered a gift to be chosen as a clergy for Velsharoon. A chosen clergy must prove their dedicated to Velsharoon as a dark brother or sister.

Zealot

Zealots are by far the most respected being within the church of Velsharoon, they perform the most important rituals along side with the prophet and sometimes palemasters. A zealot are very dedicated to Velsharoon, should they even get the slightly hint that somebody is turning their back to Velsharoon they will instantly execute the person in question and hang their corpse upon within the temple for all to learn from.

Acolyte

A acolyte is a fairly respected individual within the church however they perform minor rituals and tend to followers of Velsharoon, a acolyte will always wish to ascend to the rank of zealot however this can prove to be a difficult task as the prophet must believe the acolyte is dedicated to Velsharoon.

Dark brother/sister

A dark brother or sister is a newly enlisted clergy for Velsharoon, they have a long path ahead of them to prove themselves to the prophet and other clergies, to prove themselves they must show outstanding dedication to Velsharoon and the church.

The Enforcers

Classes - Fighters/Barbarians/Blackguards

Deathspeaker

The most feared person within the temple apart from the prophet himself, he commands the enforcers and thralls and is complete charge of the security of the temple and missions. The Deathspeaker shall be by the prophets side most of the time as he is the prophets most loyal guard and has been granted the honest of bodyguard, he will escort the prophet to location should the route be dangerous.

Enforcer

An Enforcer is one of the most feared warriors within the temple, they are renown for their brutal methods of torture and their strict rules on who they deem trustworthy within the temple. An enforcer will rarely disobey their superiors but should they strongly believe that security is threatened they are allowed to take matters into their own hands however, should they be wrong it can result in a very slow and painfull death.

Thrall

When a new recruit is taken into the he starts off as a thrall, he is to follow all orders and give up his own life should he be commanded so, for a thrall to ascend to an Enforcer he must show outstanding dedication to the church of Velsharoon and his superiors within the church.

Mind that I suggest you get "A" faction before you worry about subdivisions and such.

O, and the Living City is ALWAYS WATCHING MUAHAHAHAHA

Yeah, in my experience all the subdivions just dilute a faction. Build a base of membership and once you've enough players start to divide them if you must. Good luck!

We had the same problem with the EO. To few members and to many ranks.

It's /real/ true. That said, good luck, I wish you all the best, for serious, and agree with the previous posters quite whole heartedly, don't worry so much about subdivisions yet.

I think after 5 posts saying the same thing the original poster probably gets it. Though pointing this out is no less redundant on my part, sooo...

That said. I approve that such a faction/cult is being made! That big lonely temple of Velshy was just sitting there, occasionally getting stuff bought out of it. I'd have my character-in-making join but no interest in the deity himself. Maybe some kind of alliance.

I just made sub devisions to give it a bit of flavour however, these are mainly so people know what it will be like; currently it will just one rank from each devision.

So full plate wearers will be thralls, rogue type character would be grave robbers and mages can be either researchers of necromancy or be clergy along with clerics but would only be the bottom rank, as I want to limit the high ranks for when the faction gets more members. ^^

Thanks for the comments tho, always nice to get some feedback as it helps me alter things for the better.

Though I don't have any followers of Velsharoon I do have a character occasionally perusing the undead city who may be interested in helping you if our goals parallel

Isn't Tarkuul in general pretty much a Vaunted faction anyway? Also Banites tried OOC recruitment, look what happened to them, on that note, good luck!

Post subject:  Re: Temple of Velsharoon Recruitment

To be honest, only reason I posted an OOC recruitment is because not many people go to Tarkuul so its kind of hard to do IC recruitment but if I post this then people might go to Tarkuul to RP so I can do the IC recruitment.

Pffft. The Banites had been OOC recruiting for about five years, its only recently that they've kicked the bucket.

No, you are wrong in pretty much every sense of the word, on everything you said here.

I know, though I genuinely figured Tarkuul was a sort of faction in it's own, the rest was me being a dick..

Gah, its such a pet peeve of mine when factions recruit ooc. Still, here's some constructive advice. Know your players before you let them in on everything. Nothing worse then playing the bad guys and recruiting a few douchebaggers who give your faction that "Evil pvp griefer" rep.
