Hi,

I`m fairly new to Amia, but have played NWN online on other servers. Amia looks like an interesting place, but i have a few questions raised from problems i have been having:

(1) I have upgraded my Lesser Portal Wand, but i have no idea of How, Where or When to use it. As i said i got a lesser mythal crystal from a successful quest and slotted it into the wand, but whenever i try to use it, i only get the message that it can`t be used. What am i doing wrong?

(2) Perhaps a related problem: i have also touched a couple of different ley-line places and given them a new slot, but whenever i log in i always return to Cordor South via the welcome hall. What do i need to do?

To answer your question they are very much related. Due to ic reasons you can not use your portal rod inside Cordor Locations, to use just don't be in a location connected or related to Cordor. For example Bendir Dale is fine. To change bind location when you use your rod it gives you an option to change start location on A and B. Of course entry zone is also not possible for exploitablle reasons.

Maybe a little more specific...

You can use the portal wand in most places, but not in the "Welcome to Amia" entry way, or any area of Cordor.

You will always start out in the Welcome to Amia (or amia abroad) entry way, but you CAN change where you will start once you go through the mirror by:
1) Using the portal wand
2) Set starting (or default starting) location
3) Choose a location that is on the server you are currently on (A or B)!

On a side note, simply using a mythal on a wand will not upgrade it, only add charges. To upgrade, you must be by a mythal forge and select the upgrade option. It will change the name of your wand accordingly. (And give you a free charge refill.)

And yes, i did just add charges, not upgrade it. Mythal forging is some way along the line for my character.

Yes. It is, indeed, cool to be random.

And, it's not really true mythal forging to upgrade your wand. Rather simple procedure, that most levels of IC intelligence could understand. Even a dimwitted half-orc would probably eventually get that he can put his shiny rock on his thingamajigger next to the super mojo'ed forge and upgrade it.

Welcome! Leyline magic and that stuff is really interesting! There's DM stuff that has to do with it so I encourage you to research it and figure it all out. :) Yay for newbz.
