Just wondering if anyone has ever tried this out? The trailers looked pretty cool and I didn't find any posts about it here on the Amia forums so I thought I'd post to get some opinions. If it is anything like DDO Unlimited I absolutely despised that game for some reason, I just keep coming back to good old Neverwinter Nights

It "looks" cool with a toolset called The Foundry... ominous...

2 trailers on the main page.
edit: and this link will let you watch them in fullscreen http://www.exploreneverwinter.com/Videos.aspx?t=1

It's the horrible MMO they decided to make instead of an actual NWN3.

The second (newer) trailer convinced me it was a dud. You probably won't find much roleplay in a free to play MMORPG anyways; just look at Runescape.

Eh, it's 4th edition and it's a MMORPG, of course it's going to suck.

Also I like how if you click the second video, the 'D&D Encounters' video, it's like the dorkiest D&D session imaginable with this techno electric guitar music failing to make it sound cool. They just have no idea how to advertise.

"Neverwinter's been nominated for the most anticipated new MMO of 2012 in Ten Ton Hammer's Reader's Choice Awards!"
Oh god... I laughed so hard.

Also, what the hell? That... that was the Morrowind journal sound. That was the exact Morrowind journal sound.

Played Runescape for 10 years, was a top rated tank in clan wars, held positions in the top rated clan, got bored to hell because nothing ever changed and everyone could master everything so i stopped playing, got referred here and found everything runescape was missing :)

Ontopic, yeah that looks like a ruinedscape clone kinda >.>

are you kidding me? we have more then 30 players... two different servers.. that is an mmorpg... like it or not... and by free to play we don't have to pay monthly fees to play online.

30 players isn't massive. even 128 players isn't massive. NWN and runescape aren't incredibly comparable.

NWN fails at MMORPG since it's not "massive"
WOW fails at MMORPG since it's not a role playing game but a grinding one. There's no RPing going on there and people don't "play" their characters.. they just play their rude gaming addicted self's in a pretty avatar with fancy gear.

NWN's a MORPG if you find the right servers
WOW's a MMOG

Got yet to see a single game fit the whole term where RP stands for actual roleplay.. not fancy big chested avatars grinding for epic gear.

Thing about almost all MMORPGs is that they aren't roleplaying games, they're grinding games where nobody bothers to roleplay.

NWN isn't massively multiplayer. Massively multiplayer means you have at least hundreds of players all playing at once, which you cannot do on NWN. It also doesn't follow the style of a MMORPG in terms of gameplay or social make up. A MMORPG typically has no roleplay, is solely about grinding levels, PvPing and trading, has very little DM activity and they're called GMs to designate that they aren't going to provide you quests and roleplay xp and is usually made up of servers owned by the company who made the game.
