Post subject:  The Eternal Order - kelemvorites..'Again'..

Myself and another player are really missing presence from this group in game. I personally feel the absence is stalling one of my PC's development. Is there plans for the main protagonists to return?

I'm at a loss here, apart from starting up (or trying to) a new Chapter or something similar.

Apologies if i am mistaken and i have just missed people, i'm UK based and seems to miss allot of what goes on, although the other player concerned isn't and reckons he has not seen anyone either.

Advice anyone?

Posted here as i don't have access to any private forums (if there are any).

Cheers

The faction has a downtime because people are busy in rl, but I can see Richard and Daren on occasionally. There is no private forum for months now so you did not miss that one.

The only thing I can recommend is to not make another chapter/faction or whatever. It would not be healthy for the Kelly rp at all. Not to mention that your character is probably able to develop himself too.

The faction has become inactive, outside the rare exceptions. The highest positions that have the right to give out promotions or do major decisions are rarely played, which cripples the whole faction from pretty much doing anything. My suggestion, if you (anyone who does) want to get the group back on track you need to show that your character has the potential to take over and then do so. That is what I did with Sharina after Infernal stepped back, and I expect has to be done now for it to get back on track. At this stage it is dumb to expect a rise of activity without getting your hands dirty and doing a lot of work.

I second Phearnun, not only because I know he knows whereof he speaks, but because I think the server would be well-served by another resurgence of the EO. While I'm not much help ICly, I'll help as much as I can OOC. :)

Pretty sure Silvarus has said he's for the most part retired? Opustus is around fairly regularly, but most of the other lot are gone.

Where'd Jimbono get to?

Thanks for your input folks, I personally have put quite alot of RP into being 'seen' as much as I can and i know Mikal is doing a sterling job. The others, i really dont see, perhaps because of timezone miss matches.

Unless one of the main guys chimes in here i suppose the only way forward asside from automatically assuming the mantle of control (undesirable),or meting up with the Kellies who are on to decide as such, is to laise with a DM to (for want of a better word) take a managerial role either through NPC or guidance (pm contacts to NPCs - perhaps representatives of the EO on the mainland) from distant elements of the organisation.

I really dont want to step on anyones toes here but speaking from experience with the dawnguard when the leaders knew they were going to be absent for protracted periods of time they gave the mantle to others who could be present in game and drive the faction forward.

As mentioned before I and others simply want to do things IG that could/would/should involve contact and dialogue with the higher echelons.

I'm sure with the correct RP and work (which i am willing to put in as i'm sure others are) we could build this group back up, but having ones hands effectively 'tied' concerning certain issues (general IG stuff as mentioned) makes this almost impossible.

Cheerie do...

Alamut, can you chime in on your thoughts?

I am indeed inactive and willing to pass on leadership to others. I am available via PM and/or MSN or Facebook chat or Amia's IRC channel if someone wants to play. Might even enjoy a few hours of playing Gagis if someone nudges me at a suitable time.

We just need to find a suitable leader, as most of the senior members IC:ly fit for the job seem to be a bit inactive as well. Is Jimbo still playing Victor? He would make a decent big bad boss.

Post subject:  Re: The Eternal Order - kelemvorites..'Again'..

I'm sorry, but I'm lazy at taking the initiative, and even if I were better at it, I'd still be preoccupied with real life. I was thinking of making a character capable of leading the faction, at least temporarily until someone else with the required expertise and dedication would take over. Things should calm down for me soon, so I'll give it a try unless something happens already before that.

My love for the faction is deep, but frankly, it's rather boring to chase huge entities of evil on your own. We could use something radical to stir things up for a moment, to reinvigorate people's enthusiasm and see if we could launch into a proper start again.

EDIT: Direct your IC concerns this way. I'll do my best to be around for whatever IC stuff you need done.

Out with the old in with the new. Progression is good. Do whatever your character would do, try not to be too influenced by OOC motivations.

There is nothing new in Amia ever though, that is the problem. It's just repetitive stagnant and old. Sure you get the same skins and a few shiney new spells and custom scripted things, but that isn't were the problem lies.

That's your own opinion. As a roleplay server where the main enjoyment comes from interaction with other people, if you're not going to put in the effort, then you'll get nothing out of it. This isn't a tabletop campaign, so any expectations of DMs being here to cater to you are unrealistic, as nice as it would be. There's plenty of people who enjoy themselves with new experiences and starting new trends and factions for the server, but only because they've put in the effort.

Which took an incredible amount of time and resulted in a quite a large amount of players complaining to us, arguing between each other and breaking a load of rules.

It didn't work out very well.

Post subject:  Re: The Eternal Order - kelemvorites..'Again'..

Yet the few players who actually did follow rules constantly, and put in a lot of effort into it, got absolutely nothing from it, even when told we would.

This entire conversation is pointless and a massive derail anyway, because nothing will ever come of it, so i'll choose not to respond from this point on.

One would think the enjoyment comes from participating, rather than what you receive. The DMs who put in tens of hours organising the plot, furthering the story and changing the module certainly didn't receive anything.

Well I think all of you made good inputs about what to do.

I case a meeting for a representative or temporary leader won't work, I would follow your idea about creating an order inside the order: The Doomguides. How would it work ? Well, first let's check about the meeting then we could discuss regarding it.

My thoughts on what to do:

The current situation IC:ly is that the majority of Kelemvorite forces have been killed or are otherwise missing in action, leaving the order without sufficient manpower to conduct operations, and the relevant solution is to put someone in charge of recruitment and training.

That's not a fact. It's an opinion!

Just as it's my opinion when I say the opposite. I have a ton of fun on Amia, and I think that has a lot to do with the number of people I interact with every time I log in. My character helps with that by being quite the social person, though!

You have to be willing to step outside your comfort zone and get out there in a place like Amia. You can't just expect RP and excitement will find you.

I <3 Bender.

Also, PVP heavy factions wax and wane heavily. Not an opinion. See: Banites. While EO isn't THE heaviest, it is fair PVP heavy. And it's a small group. People go and do other stuff. It happens.

Their wax and wane is also heavily dependant on if they are winning or not.

Its called losing and dying, which is exactly what should happen if a faction is not winning, though I am not sure if the EO was winning or losing when our membercount dropped.

Kinda surprised that our enemies have not triumphed too much over what has essentially been the Eternal Order being defeated.

We were extremely active during the brouhaha with the Caravan, although I agree it wasn't especially intact of needless wank either.

The decline started after we had settled comfortably in Khem and things calmed down. This kind of faction needs the hassle (IC and OOC, tbh) in order to persist. Also what I would consider to have an equally significant impact on the inactivity is the general disinterest of the older players who have been running the faction from the beginning.

What we really need is a forum to post kelly stuff in, im assuming there isnt a faction forum like the non operational dawnguard?

Can we have theirs? :D

The meeting last night went well for most i think. There was much talk about changes, which is good for the future of the faction.

The other good point was most seem to share a portion of a timezone, albeit Eurozone which emans most really coolish stuff might happen too late into the early hours for us, but hey ho.

For example, it would be a good idea to make a post regarding a roster and contact details (forum accts for pms and such like), not only for players in game now and future new players or those interested in the faith. In addition, do we actually know every kelemvorite on the server, if we had a place where anyone could post that they visit the cathederal, it would let us know who we have.

I am willing to administer the forum if required. The forum shoud include each memebrs responsibility, training responibilites etc etc..

We really do need a forum if we're going to get this ball rolling again.

I assume that the request for a forum has been raised with DM Management already? what was the outcome?

Apologies for spamming ideas, i just dont wanto lose the momentum we seem to have gained lately.

There are more Euro DMs now, so guess cool shit will go down daytime as well, not at 3 AM.

And no, we're not getting an official subforum of our own. We had it once and we lost it. It will require a lot of convincing and hard work to get it back. In the meantime we can make a site of our own, however.
