Hey, I want to make a healing cleric, that can be taken seriously as a cleric.
What kind of personality would she have? can you give me some advice on a background? possibly a build that would keep me alive, but mainly like a medic of sorts? What weapon would such a character use?

And what deity would be best?

If I were you, I would look into one of these two deities:

Salandra.

Ilmater.

Those are a good starting point. Read into them and you can base your character how you think they would fit the theme. Being a former Salandran player myself, I will let you know that it's not the easiest role in the world... but it's rewarding. If you are interested in a Salandran character, I can provide some additional info for you. Just let me know.

As for the build my 2 cents is that the build should be based on the character and not the other way around, but if you read here I'm sure you'll get your questions answered.

In a PnP game I play a cleric of Lathander. She is a healer and undead roaster. Lots Of fun.

You can really play a healer of (almost) any deity (though Ilmater/Salandra/Lathander come first to mind). My cleric follows Sharess and she is a wonderful healer. She doesn't have a 'healer mindset', but she excels in it (her role is wholly of support, and her magic is used to buff and heal and she currently heals about 100 HP with a +10 kit).

Mine carries around a quarterstaff, as that is the most nonlethal and practical weapon for a cleric that wanders and doesn't like to fight. For a personality I would say any one really fits, as long as the cleric enjoys healing/helping people (or on the evil side enjoys healing baddies so they can get back to killing).

She's my first actual cleric character ever, and I love her. Salema, the Healbot 9000.
