This post is for people who currently own these widgets. If you believe that your character is capable of teaching the lore-appropriate use of these widgets to other characters, then please send me a "lesson plan" in my PM Box that briefly but adequately outlines the critical points in effectively teaching these abilities to other people. I am taking the initiative and doing this because IG training is necessary for people to get these widgets and there seems to be a shortage of such people on at certain times or places. Some of your characters may be willing to teach others freely, so long as they are taught correctly. Some of you may be willing to teach others for a price (in gold or favors or sex...no, scratch that last one, it is against the rules.) Some of you may only want to teach good people and leave the bad dudes out in the cold, or conversely make sure your wicked partners know all the tricks and those goodie-goods stay ignorant. None of those motivations really matter to me, as this is mostly (for the moment) an OOC testing of the water. We need to know who has the widget and who we think is capable of adequately teaching it to other people and when we have those names we may come up with an IC way to fix a possible problem. To be honest, I don't have a model in place, but I know where to start from, and this is it! Obviously, don't post your lesson plan in this thread, please. Just send it in a PM. |

Is the greater Shadowjump widget required to teach Shadowjump or can it be done with the lesser widget? |

Best I know, you need to be a 'Master' Dancer, or lvl 10 SD. They are the same thing, fwiw |

I will make my best attempt to find time to write something up this weekend. I don't play my master 'dancer much anymore, but I would if someone needed a teacher. |

Krugan will eventually get to 10 SD but he needs a teacher. Once he has learned, he will be willing to teach. Ways off yet for me. |

Some people for reasons that are their own, cannot approach the usual avenues regarding these techniques (ie subraces, alignments, timezones, deities, OOC grudges, flying pandas etc.) Will these widgets still be able to be obtained through DM observation and tuition opposed to DM observation and player tuition? Or is the future aim of this plan to really push for player tuition? |

Um, weve never done DM tuition to begin with. |

The one teacher that I had dealings with if you catch him can set up lessons for you, although it could prolly use one/more active people, sure. A gap that I intend to try and fill in with one of my chars in the future as an SD actually. Galenson wrote: Will these widgets still be able to be obtained through DM observation and tuition opposed to DM observation and player tuition? Tormak beat me to it, but as he said, on the SD side at least, the SJ widgets are given after player tuition, DM involvement is you requesting the widget after your training is complete and screenies are posted. I've seen or went through two such trainings personally by now. I'd assume that this is the reason for this call out in the first place. |

or just learn stuff yourself and screw finding a teaching, at least in the case of 1k faces with shifter |

SJ training requires tuition afaik, on the account that if you do it wrong, you can kill yourself in a variety of colorful, squishy ways. 1000 faces afaik is a bit less deadly if you do it wrong, but I'm not really a shifter person. In theory though, both could be self taught with the proper amount of theoretical preparation, though that's for the DMs to decide. |

I think there is a whole topic of the ways you can kill yourself if done wrong or off by a mere half meter. Hint: Appearing with your right side inside of a tree is not healthy. Hence why you should practice in flat empty places. |

There are several active/semi active SD teachers out there yes. You just have to hunt one down. Post in the academy forums and find which teacher can work in your timezone and get some RP Going. |

If it's "flat and empty" then there's nothing to cast shadows large enough to jump through. If you take a student to such a place then all you are teaching them is to abuse the tool. There /must/ be a shadow at least half the size of the Dancer's body and a clear LOS to the landing targeted shadow. Teachers please remind yourselves before teaching someone else of the lore of the Dance. A good beginners guide has been long posted on the Academy. For those who have deeper questions about Shadow and Shadowplane lore you should PM a long time SD player such as Mahtan, myself or find a good resource online to read. Just make sure it's canon and not just someone's opinion of how they used it in a PnP session with a DM that didn't care |

A flat empty space could easily mean a cityscape setting, there's no need to pick over someone's words like that. Any of the instructors at the Three Steps Academy are great choices to PM, but for the better experience, find us in-game so we can chat about the lore in-character instead! |

10+ SD, must already have Greater Jump. (which you get for free by being 10+ SD if you already have lesser/learned it when you were 10+SD.) |

Except for the two dancers who originally brought the notion to the island (And one of which who coded it and once of which who bitched about a gift horse lets guess who those were.) I guess. |

Well, turning the helm back a bit toward the original thread line... Krugan is approaching 6 SD...(currently 3, about to be 4 tonight I hope, should be 6 by Monday)... A few questions...I am trying to RP things with the Academy. Time zone is a conflict I think there for an IC PC....so...this being said....the questions... 1) Do I need an instructor for HIPS at 6? 2) Do I need an instructor for LESSER at 6? 3) How exactly do you "teach" the skills once you learn them? Last question is because Krugan will be going solid SD to 16 now. So by level 30 he will have 16 SD levels. I would very much like to have him be able to "teach" as a mentor and would enjoy investing time in other players doing so. I already have acquired a "student" more or less and had an instructor lined out (Mr. H that has taken a vacation from Amia) so, its one of those things that Krugan should be able to work out...just trying to iron out the details so we can do what is needed ICly is all though IG RP. |

No instructor for HiPS is needed, but one is needed for Shadowjump. They're taught through RP lessons. |

Also, I see lots of replies from the Shadowjumpers but none from the 1000 Facers. Are there no 1000 Facers out there that are both willing and able to teach? |
