If there is an election, you may vote with ONE character. Choose the one character you either play the most, or the character most relevant to the election at hand. (i.e. Don't vote on the Winyan elections with your svirfneblin gnome who is racist against elves)

If you are found to be voting with multiple characters or accounts, please expect a three day ban with no warning on the first offense. Your voting privileges will also be revoked for elections. This is a fairly easy rule to follow, which is why I'm making the ban very clear. Don't vote more than once.

And if you got away with it before this, well, I guess you just got lucky, didn't you.

Would be helpful to have this and other bootstrap rules put to the in game journal as well, not that ignorance of the law is an excuse or ever should be but it will cut down on "I didnt know."'s

+1

Addendum - Can this rule be stuffed in the rules / lore section, too.

Really this is common sense. It's sad that people cannot grasp on what is "fair".

Common sense do not apply on the internet.

Here's an example - You play two elves frequently, should you not have two votes in the Winya election?

To be fair, many people, like me, are American and fuzzy on the concept of fair elections....

zing!

... but, yeah this makes sense.

Actually...I think its more...

"There are elections? Really?" for more of us Americans...

Question though, I have never seen one of these....and I would figure most places that are not republics like Cordor wouldn't have them would they?

Also, Bendir Dale elects its mayors by popular vote, and doesn't Barak Runedar elect its Council?

The point is if you vote with multiple characters you are swaying the vote on purpose.

PS I am American.

Whatever? Quite beside the point.

In the Winya election, I didn't have a problem with people casting a couple of votes, if they had a couple of characters with invested IC interests in the outcome. I'll call out one player just as an example: I'd not have so much as blinked if in the Winya elections, Jes had cast one vote for Zelly and one for Cei'ali. Both are well-established characters who might plausibly have cared deeply about the outcome of the election.

But, I do agree that the common-sense-and-honor system isn't necessarily reliable. "Common sense" varies from player to player, and it's easy to argue that if two votes is reasonable, why not three? And if three, why not five? And so on. It's probably a good idea to close the door on that sort of thing. I think it's a good ruling.

Yes, and I fully agree with the ban thing too for that very reason....not that my agreement or disagreement means much granted.

Everytime I say this I cringe thinking people will think I am being a suck up...those that know me know I'm more of a firebrand....but...here goes once more...

I have played ALOT of servers in my NWN time....been a DM and Player both....

I will tell you this....I have been most impressed with Amia and this its the best server I have played on...and that is saying something because I have played on some wonderful ones.

Its not just one thing...its the combined things....from DM interaction to the RP of the community to the policiing of things....scripting....its the whole experience.

I'm an outsider looking in for the moment too...and I know my questions and post probably rub people the wrong way sometimes (or at least get annoying) but, I honestly am just trying to get up to speed on things as quickly as possible without being a metagaming, powergaming, twit.

Now...my success of failure on that front will probably be measured by whom you ask...heh

IG yes. Those that show to the meeting get to vote.

As long as there are a set of rules which are worked out and applied before an election starts, then it is fair to all who act within those rules. Now that the 'One vote per player' rule is universal, it is fair for all.

The rules were set before the election
