I had a pc ambushed tonight by a couple of other characters. They used bigby's hand on him when I refused to pay a 5,000 coin "toll". Is this actually allowed here? I was told to turn back to the city or die.

I didn't come here to get accosted by some jerks. I thought the rules of CvC were supposed to be mutual. This was two ganging up on a low level pc. Wow, lots of fun for me.

No one set me to hostile either. I am rather new to the server (two weeks or so) and was just wondering if this sort of thing is allowed?

Grey area, also you should PM one of the DM staff and not air your laundry here on the forum as well. Screencaps also go a long way to prooving your side of the issue.

First off, welcome to Amia! :D

I'm gonna get this in, too; This is probably one of those things where it's better to send the relevant information and screenshots (if you have them) in a Private Message to a DM. Like Lally.

That said, however, this is now a public issue (so not blaming you by the way, Bidocks, you're new here and god knows I didn't know all the forum nuances when I was new to Amia) so i'll clarify that yes this is an RP server in a fantasy setting, which means that yes, PvP will happen.
However no, RP like that (in my humble opinion) is not okay. ESPECIALLY if they didn't hostile you first. I'll let a DM have their say now, and clear things up.

Banditry RP is alright. In the case of PvP with it, the character being robbed has to be given an out to avoid PvP. Yours was to pay the "toll" or turn back. However, you wouldn't have to hand over actual gold if you wanted to, just RP handing it over.

And yes, the pair who accosted you should have hostiled first. Please toss me or another DM a PM with their names. In the future, please don't post specific incidents on the public forums. Such is best handled via PMs.

Also, you are not required to actually pay 5000 gold, but you can just RP handing it over.

Does anyone else find that stupid? I mean really, we're resorting to ~fake~ handing money over. What do new adventurer's carry a brick of monopoly money around on them for just such emergencies?

I have to agree, but I am one of those people who does not want their RP enviroments to be all for hugs and kisses. Minimally limited player interaction is fun.

Seems perfectly fine to me, if you're doing the banditry stuff for the RP then that's great and the actual gold shouldn't matter much. If you're just out to take gold from lower level characters then you're just being an ass.

I want to see more characters that are absolute arseholes. Thats the whole point of conflict, and an RPG without conflict is just an overglorified chatroom.

I think he was talking about player arses being problematic, not character arses.

What does a character abusing his superior skills and power to pick on weak victims have to do with the player?

That nine times out of ten said person picking on other people cause he is level 30 will immdiately jump to ooc should another level 30 come and train wreck their asses. Nobody can take near as good as they give.

Ive seen it a thousand times.

When it's purely about the acquisiton of gold and not just the picking on weak victims.

And probably what Feonir says. I guess. I wouldn't know! Whereas he probably might!

Ah, yeah. Thats when it is indeed all about the player.

1. This should have been sent to the DMs, not made as a topic to air your dirty laundry on the public forums.

2. PvP does not require mutual OOC consent.

3. I am locking this topic because of reasons stated in #1. I expect a PM in my inbox with a full incident report and screenshots if you really expect me to be able to do anything about it.
