Necromancy. Apparently its illegal and anyone who is thought to be practicing it is considered kill on sight, regardless of whether that's the case or not. I've been looking through the forums and materials here but I've not seen anything about necromancy specifically.

The reason I ask is because I am new to the server with a friend of mine. We are both level 3, and we ran into two other rather unaccommodating players who, within a few moments of spotting us in a kobold cave (they were there first, so we had intended to leave the cave), decided that we were both necromancers, and killed us both. I'm not sure how many level 4 characters have a +15 to hit on melee attacks, but I don't call that Role playing.

this whole encounter left a very bitter taste in my mouth, and it didn't help matters being laughed at by those in the OOC room when the server went down and I logged back in as a corpse there. I'm not looking for DM intervention or anything of that nature as I've come not to expect much in that regard from player moderated games of any sort. I just want someone to explain what I'm supposed to do; break the RP to run away or log out so that the level 10 couldn't one-shot me and my friend for allegedly doing something "illegal" when they don't even know themselves if it is or isn't?

I would advise you to PM a DM about this incident. For PvP there needs to be an RP reason for it to start, and the other person needs to be give the opposing player a "way" to get out of the pvp session that might start. So RP is a must, there can be no "Oh! I think this or I am CE now die!"

For a more exact example and the rules exactly here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31888

Well, running around admitting you're a dark necromancer generally isn't a good idea. But PvP rules are in place, to prevent greifing. Also, there are other rules about specific accidents and sending them directly to DM's in a Personal Message too.

Word of advice is not to go around telling the world you're a necromancer and you raise undead for a living. It'll help you live longer, and thats the whole point of being a Necromancer.

Also, there are three types of Necromancy. Light, Dark, and Grey. Dark Necromancy is the only one that you would be cautious about using so openly. Kelemvorites themselves are often Necromancers, but do not use Dark Necromancy under any circumstances.

Before the inevitable topic lock, sorry to hear this has happened to you and yeah, you'll find players like this but also some very cool players too. But just keep on going and you'll find soon enough that as the RP and character you play progress, it will be easy to forget about and as Vinasius said, PM to a DM but they'll likely want screenshots.

...and he never indicated that he admitted to using Necromancy; the dickwads that jumped him came to that conclusion on their own.

Honestly, I've met damn few assholes on Amia. It sounds to me like you got very unlucky, very quickly. Don't let this experience discourage you. There are a TON of good people, good players, and good RP to be had here. As mentioned above, PM a DM with character names and logins (if you can get them) and drive on. Your experience is the exception, not the rule.

Either that, or don't post rants.

Screenshots and PMs to a DM. We don't air dirty laundry on the forums.
