Alright guys, Just a few random thoughts, and would request if a dm also could provide some insight into a potential request I might make, and how they might view such a request.
In my time here i've seen quite a few , blue eyed mulans, blonde durparis, and fair skinned chultans.. I personally feel that as those occurences are naturally quite rare and not of the norm in Toril this should be the case in Amia as well... I am actually guilty of doing the same. Yes with one specific toon which i made looong ago before i even understood subraces and rp etc properly, whose a tuigan. I My background of the toon was that he was tuigan but then was adopted by a western church and then took up the western or common name. I'm a bit ashamed at this as I feel its just a washout try to create a normal toon, take advantage of the advantage a subrace benfit it gives and give a backgrond reasoning as to why that person has that name. Very simply i'm asking if it's even possible to request to remove the 'sex' appeal of my toon and give it the Proper Tuigan name it deserves. Something ridiculous sounding like Xitugel Horsemeateater ..or something material sounding Skyfire Plainsrider //not the name by the way. I just find that RP wise, more emphasis should be given or perhaps even enforced when someone chooses a subrace..just my thoughts.
please note: this post is not meant to intend any racist comment, or that interbreeding or mixing of subraces is wrong in anyway. Please also do note mistake the term sex appeal to mean that one race is sexier then the other. The term 'sex appeal' is used loosely as in how drow are said to have 'sex appeal' or vampires, so in this context how a common name could have a nicer appeal in the generic sense. No offense is intended.

I think a lot of the time you get "boiled down" subraces, it's a from a lack of having the materials to read up on them. A good number of people who play NWN have never played D&D, so they naturally don't see much of a difference between a Chultan and Tuigan except for the stats.
There are some general guidelines in the subraces sidebar, but while I would love to see more ethnicities representing, I don't necessarily think it should be enforced. I think it should be encouraged. There's a distinction there, and I don't mean throwing presents at the people who play the stereotypes well.
Maybe I'll grab a bunch of subrace information and post it in GD so people can read it and get themselves jazzed about the different beliefs, customs and culture of the different Faerûnian ethnicities.
Although there's something else to consider about subraces - why are all these dudes here? Why would they be the stereotype or the iconic (insert ethnicity here) when they're in Amia? Mulan makes sense, what with Khem being as portal-close as it is... but Ffolk? Why would they leave their land to come here? It's like wanting to play a wychlaran - I'd love to, don't get me wrong... but why would she not be in the homelands?
That regard is why I don't get overly bothered by subraces not being more traditionally represented. Amia is clearly a crossroads for the nontraditional - and besides, in a world as promiscuous as Toril, how many pure breed subraces can there be anymore? Who's to say that Tuigan can't have blue eyes...
(THAT SAID... I'm more pro-playing subrace than not. I mean, it's so interesting, why deny yourself that pleasure and opportunity? And the RP you might get with others of your subrace that you wouldn't get with anyone else? Hell yeah.)
I don't know if I follow the sex appeal part. Are you saying your dude wouldn't be sexy anymore if you took away his boring whiteness? 'Cause there's far sexier things out there than vanilla Caucasians.

'Cause there's far sexier things out there than vanilla Caucasians don't get me wrong there, I was just using 'sex appeal' loosely as in how drow are said to have 'sex appeal' or vampires.. as in a cool name and not a proper tuigan name. Regarding the rest, I agree with you, perhaps even post up some pictures of what a proper subrace would look like. I mean for example theres been confusion in past as to Durpari being middle eastern and not Indian, for example. along with the background information about the subrace etc. I dont agree with the mixed race heritage too often, I mean while interbreeding is possilbe and possibly common, but its definitly not the norm in certain cities. Ie you dont see Half-Dwarf , Half elfs commonly in brogendenstine etc. And as the DM team take significant efforts to prevent amia from looking like a costume party of Half Dragons, Vampires, Lycans, Avariels, and Winged Naked Blonde Haired Half Drow... I think perhaps 'not enforcing' it is good (as it would take up too much of DM time) but perhaps really discouraging it would be excellent.

Oh, when I said pure breed subraces, I meant within the overall race, like a Chessentan-Chondathan, or someone with, I dunno, Chultan and Amnish heritage. Not like, half-elves.
If anything, I think people are more prone to "sexiness" in what is exotic to them. Exoticism is its own sort of weird discrimination, in a way, because it turns whole cultures into something trivial for the sake of one's own tastes and interests. But - it also means that a Tuigan dude who was more traditionally Tuigan than some dude who was Tuigan only in name, would likely be "sexier" as a result because he'd have the "exotic" thing going for him.

I never saw the point of regional subraces in the first place. Plain human can be anything from anywhere.

Don't see why not. You might try looking up some Mongolian names (there's lists of them on like baby-naming sites), as they're the culture the Tuigan are mostly modelled after.

Your Tuigan sounds like he was essentially removed from his culture. Sounds it it would be fairly easy for him to take a little vacation and go back home, get to know his own people again. While there, maybe someone knew him or his mother - whatever the case, from that point on, he could be like, "Wait, it's actually pretty rocking to be Tuigan!" and jump into reclaiming his culture from then on.
Some months later, your dude all rolls back up to Amia with a golden eagle on his left gauntlet, and awesome hat, and a new name to go with his new/reestablished culture values! Hell yeah, man.
...
That'd just be my suggestion. Like an IC way of reading the material provided on the subrace.
