Now I am posing this question because I noticed some inconsistencies, usually in regards to how it's RP'd(in my own RP). RDD's are not even half or even a quarter dragon. They are so far removed from their ancestors that making them like their ancestors seems strange. I have read stories on half dragons and I never saw one literally act like it's draconic ancestor. I play a WhiteDD and there are some things I choose not to RP her as and RP her as: 1. White Dragons are the least intelligent of the species. I don't really care about this because truth be told, my character is not a white dragon. She is actually more human than dragon because as stated earlier RDD's aren't even a quarter dragon anyways. 2. All white dragons like their food frozen solid. Now this I do and do not RP. My character's favorite food is frozen: Ice cream. But since she's part human she likes cooked food too. 3. All white dragons like clear crystal objects like diamonds. Now this I do RP like a dragon...she will stop mid conversation when someone gives her a diamond to look at it and admire it. which leads to my issue: Why exactly must we play the exact alignment of the draconic ancestor when you also want us to believe they are far removed from said ancestor? I notice tiamat, the queen and mother of all chromatics, doesn't allow CE dragons to worship her. Yet ALL but one dragon(blue) are in fact CE. It makes no sense. I mean does a tiefling have to act like the demon or devil that spawned their ancestor? The answer to that is "No". So why must a DD have to? Demons/devils are worst then dragons and yet there are goodly tieflings around. I understand that the DD should be close to it's alignment...but not exact. They also shouldn't behave exactly like a dragon either, given more than sixty percent of them is in actuality another race. Am I alone in this thought? You be the judge. |

Lore thread boobookittyscrew wrote: Yet ALL but one dragon(blue) are in fact CE. It makes no sense. And this is completely wrong. Ex: Gold Dragons are LAWFUL GOOD ONLY. Wiki things, it's fun and educational. And the overall answer, I assume, is: Because that's the lore behind it. There are rituals and such I have heard of that you do, binding yourself closer to the type of dragon you descended from. |

You are consciously CHOOSING to be like the dragon type you have picked. Naturally, the further down that path you go, then yes, the more like those dragons you will not only CHOOSE to be, but be COMPELLED to be. RDD is not a race. It is a CHOICE. A series of rites and rituals designed to allow your puny Lesser self to be more like the race of the Great Ones. You may happen to BE dragonkin, but you being a disciple means you are ACTIVELY TRYING to be like a certain kind of dragon. That is WHY Chromatic Disciples are sneered at and called evil. You are consciously embracing that blood, and those tendancies. |

Goodly tieflings should be rare-in-the-extreme to nonexistant, with neutral/evil ones far outnumbering them. However, this is Amia, where most aasimar seem to have a fetish for evil. Anywho, as far as tiefers generally go, they usually should have a tendancy towards evil or selfishness, at least. And dependent upon their actual ancestry (demon, devil, yugoloth, etc.) they'd likely have some influences from there towards law or chaos. True outsiders are paragon creatures, but their descendents aren't. As far as DDs are concerned, dragons are also paragon creatures. They are ALWAYS their listed alignment. A gold dragon is always LG, and a red dragon will always be CE, barring something on the order of direct divine interference. However, it isn't the same for DDs. The same one-step rule that's in effect for clerics is a good guideline for DDs. An RDD for example, should never be good, or lawful, IMO. But CN, NN, or NE? Sure. When a person chooses to strengthen their draconic bloodline via DD rituals, they awaken not only the physical changes, but mental ones as well. There's no demand that they HAVE to act exactly like their draconic ancestor, but they will likely develop at least a few tendencies in that direction. |

I meant all but one, concerning chromatics...heh. But is it as hard for metallics to worship their god Bahamut, as it is for any but blue chromatics to worship tiamat? So then as a whiteDD, I don't have to start becoming stupid. Works for me. |

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but you are right and wrong about the fact they aren't half. Dragon Disciples aren't at first half blooded but they magically enhance their blood so it is as strong as a true half breed. They don't start out as a true half breed and aren't a half breed in the traditional sense but they magically enhance and magnify their blood to the point that it is effecting their characteristics such as strength, growth of wings, scales, etc at the level of a true half breed. So to sum it up... if you compare a level 10 RDD and a half Dragon their 'blood' is the same. Just one is through magically enhancements, etc while one was born that way. |

Zzzzzz here is the actual dragon alignment list, and I'm right not just because I'm the DM, but because I know how to check a source (something woefully undone in this topic) LG ONLY: Gold Silver Bronze CG ONLY: Brass Copper LE ONLY: Blue Green CE ONLY: Black White Red Shadow Not listing anything else because those are the only disciples you can take witohut special request. Quote: You are consciously CHOOSING to be like the dragon type you have picked. Yep. Axl hit the nail on the head. The difference between a tiefling or aasimar and a DD is that a tiefling or aasimar are born a tiefling or aasimar and a DD is born a normal elf, human, dwarf, whatever and then makes the conscious decision to take a path that embraces the minute amount of draconic blood that flows in their veins. Part of embracing that blood involves certain physical and mental shifts towards the absolute alignment of the draconic ancestor in question. |

Since everybody's happy, I'm gonna lock this up nice and tight so it can be cherished as the exceedingly rare treasure that it is. |
