Part of the reason I have not gotten my one character to max level was encase I would have to burn xp as a addition to spell casting. If I was max level would I have to get a delevel each time this situation would come up, pretty much is it better to stay 1level bellow max or not.

Sorry if that is worded confusingly.

If you cast a spell that costs XP we will deduct XP.

Whether or not that makes it "better" to stay below max level or whatever other weird rules you want to inflict on yourself is up to you.

What a weird topic.

Confusing wording, but I think I got it.

No. It doesn't matter one way or another. If you're 1 XP over lv 30 and you cast a spell that burns 1000XP, you will be dropped 1000XP. It's up to you at that point to do whatever. You have to get it back on your own.

If anything you wouldn't want to stay near the level cap. Stay over it. There's a chance, since you still collect XP over lv 30 (1 per kill), you might get a freebie, so to speak. Tell take 1000XP away and you won't be deleved. But that's likely the only one you'll ever get, unless you're killing thousands of things a day.

when I read it all I can think is, if need to spend exp alot to do stuff I would not want to be max level or I would only get 1 exp a kill or job system, or a 29 who gets about 25 times that amount. ; )

If you're level 30 and intend to do stuff like this in the future then I suggest burning 1 DC coin, even at level 30. The 8154,6 XP you get will help go towards ALOT of stuff like this and the cost is well worth it, especially if you RP it right and get DCs as reward for the RP.

I did this with my Kelemvorite once when he hit level 30 in order to prepare for stuff like that. It came in handy more than once.

Thanks Grave didn't think about doing this to avoid the pesky delevel relevel back and forth.

you sure this is such a weird question? what about rdd sorcs? we all know what happens when they lose a level..

ed: DC coins would make sense in that case.

No DM will ever burn enough XP off an RDD to delevel them. I'm pretty sure they'd just get a reply saying it's denied because of RDD delevelling wonkery.

I could be wrong though, but if it's done, we'll start getting RDD's that's even more insane.

Which opens up the question "You lose xp on this server for casting spells?"

If a DM says so.

Untrue. And it's easily fixable. There are no problems.

Yeah it's really just script that could blindly de-level someone that needs to be watched for.

Can you 'burn' a DC for an xp buffer at ECL30?

My thing was fear of unlearning spells in a spellbook, and if it would be frowned on. Reasoning a lot of pnp spells cost an xp cost. But thank you all for your info.
