Kinda a questionnaire or the like. Anyways.. sound off/discuss etc. However, I would prefer that nothing comes from current plots. 1. Top 10 examples of PC villainy that you like(d) and wish there was more of. (If you cannot recall the full ten, thats ok too.) Please follow the following Format: PC name - Short explanation of act/story - Why you felt the act was awesome/want more of these. 2. NPCs - Villainy - See above format. 3. Top 5 acts you would be most affected by villains emotionally - heres where it gets tricky/fun, No repeating something already said! New ideas or nada! 4. What is a villain, in your own words/thoughts. |

Please follow the following Format: PC name - Short explanation of act/story - Why you felt the act was awesome/want more of these. Lord Darthion- the head of the banite church until his death, he has always carried himself in such a way that those whove only heard his name knew fear. in a server where death means literally nothing, i think he did a great job in securing fear in those he knew. hes the only one i should mention, i would mention my own toon but hopefuly someone else will mention him. there are others but i cant name them which goes to show. 2. NPCs - Villainy - See above format. bleh 3. Top 5 acts you would be most affected by villains emotionally - heres where it gets tricky/fun, No repeating something already said! New ideas or nada! interaction and the prior learning about a toons backstory, so that a villain can attack metaphysical but very important points in a characters past. if someone would threaten my family who arent actual player characters, i would feel an emotional response for my toon. betrayal, the earning of trust and the using of said trust to further his own ends. the reveal of a betrayal is a grant tool to secure someone of villainy. marvels. someone who creates a grand spectacle that lasts in the players minds on a personal scale and continues to affect them long after. subtlety is important, a great villain isnt someone whos running around shouting "look at my black armor i is ebil kill me now plz paladons!" it is someone who can survive in the civilized places and feed on its people, using them and draining them like a baron so that over time everyone knows his name, the rumors, the fear. i will more happily kill some jhonny evil guy faster than someone ive heard many tales of but has never shown himself to be truely monstrous. and cake. its a lie. 4. What is a villain, in your own words/thoughts. a villain is someone who will hurt you. some way some how if you interact with him or her you will leave it feeling worse. it is someone who drives the story by goading the heros but at the same time knows he will loose. all evil will be triumphed in a fantasy setting imho, and that is the only way that there is any suspense. we all know the bad guy will loose eventually but what will happen before then, what will he do, how will he -change- us? |

I just read three source-books about devils/Demons. I have a slight feeling that everything i write here and now will be tampered with the devilish ways. Top 10 examples of PC villainy that you like(d) and wish there was more of;
#2Betrayal(Stabbing your friend in the back for personal gain) #3Desecrating opposing churches (Ain't enough of this. War between churches should be grisly!) #4Stealing(A good old fashioned Highway robbery!) #5Lying! (Far to few downright lie. Most just present their version of the truth) NPCs - Villainy

I really think a mastermind, greedy theif would be great to see, but its hard to have a real influence or effect like that, other than 'haha, I stole all your stuff' or 'You like that lifestone in the lobby? Yeah, I stole that from Winya.' |

There are some times when black robes are appropriate, for example if the evil character has someone captured and they are going to interrogate them, concealing black robes might be advantageous. However in a social situation black robes are only going to draw suspicion to the evil character, thus defeating the purpose of their concealing nature. Its more effective to look like "St-st-st-stuttering Pr-professor Q-Quirrel" than Lord Voldemort the evillest wizard ever. |

in myh experience you need a well established repuation to pull off black robes well..nathano had it..mathan had it.. but they are rare...until your a major player dont look like voldemort..thats just my two cents...evilness is not in appearences its in your deeds and not just saying how much good suck then going into pvp..think people..what scares you..a brat who calls you names..or one who skins your children then frames you for it? |

Honestly I have very low faith in good villians, so prove me wrong please.... All I would like to see is small or large scemes, but well thought out or completely random. Does not metagame, doesn't abuse pc notice board n not do any actions in game, takes the good with the bad icly and occly, is origional or at least well rped. |

If I wanted negativity/bashing of people's RP I would have asked for examples 'What you do not want to see in a villain from amian players'. I did not, it is not needed. I would like it if you also sort of at least tried to at least...vaguely.. to stick to the format.. please? |

While I do hate secrecy, I don't really feel like I'd be entitled to answer the first couple questions without ruining a few plots. So that said, here's my thoughts. 3. Top 5 acts you would be most affected by villains emotionally - heres where it gets tricky/fun, No repeating something already said! New ideas or nada! Nothing gets the blood boiling more than a good old fashioned betrayal. A properly executed one can take months of effort, but it's worth it in my opinion. Questions, the great villains out there force you to question your own goals and motives on a base level. Should we work against them? Are we any better than them? Are they really that bad? 4. What is a villain, in your own words/thoughts. A villain is that bastard on the other side of the board. The guys working against you. Most importantly, it's definitely -not- you. You're working to make the world a better place and they are not. They'll see the world in ruins if you don't stop them. |

1. more vampires 2. see 1. 3. villains you can't be sure are villains, deity invokation, other subtle stuff that can take a while to solve. ok I don't have five.. 4. a villain is someone who causes grief to the population of in this case amia, the islands, khem and the underdark even possibly. most likely an evil character, or someone with alot to gain from something that will indirectly cause trouble later. or maybe even a good old school power hungry arch-magi. villains also have a tendancy to put up a decent fight, inevitable win some and lose some, and reoccur in a timely fashion just when you least expect it =) ie think batman. |

In my opinion, real villians are like the Joker and the Honeybadger; they just don't give a shit. Egotistical meglomaniacs. It doesn't have to be straightforward, 'in your face'. Maybe concealed manipulation that hides the fact he is a egotistical meglomaniac, with smarts. Let's say like, Palpatine. Perhaps even try to get yourself up in the important ranks of certain factions and really corrupt them from the inside out - deviously and well thoughtout plans that will sound so convincing to the said faction, that they'll adopt the ideals of said villian. To do this, you'll have to look like an average Joe, perhaps even flamboyant. Just not so much that it causes everyone to draw attention upon you. |

Well, gripes about the PvP restrictions aside, I am a big fan of drow doing what drow are actually supposed to do. This is not saying they don't (*quick glare at the Eilistraeens*), pretty much just that I don't actually have any contact with them doing it, but yeah, murder and kidnap and all that. That's right, I'm looking at you, Cjizm! Also, randomly skipping to question 3, I reckon this one is kinda stupid. It's RP, you shouldn't be affected by this sort of stuff. When reading a film or a book, you don't start an outcry if a character kills a child, you don't complain to the author, that's preposterous. The same, cool-headed approach should be applied to RP, too. It's just a game. Oh, and I did like them vampires. |

I'm a fan of villany that makes the wilds more dangerous - Orcs, goblins, drows, bandits, cultists. It creates a nice atmosphere of adventuring and exploring instead of the feeling of walking in one's backyard. Where you have to rely on your guile at times to walk away unscathed. A silver tongue works wonders. This element of danger so to speak at the same time intensifies the friendship you share with another because it's a support system in the vicious wilds. I always commend those that choose the other side. |

Personally my favorite kind of villainy to be on the receiving end of is the kind where the players engulf you in their faction RP for a few weeks by kidnapping your character or forcing your character to work alongside them through IC mechanics. It makes it much more interesting to log in knowing that your character is in the heart of a life altering experience, i.e. being held prisoner in a place far from the normal environment that your character would inhabit. |

I'll give my 2 cents on 3 and 4 3. Top five evils acts. Can't think of five things, but I've got two for this one. First being a true master mind who screws everyone over to get rich, get even or what ever his goals are. A "Bad Guy" Who doesn't work with anyone and doesn't have the conplicated "Alliences" that are just crap. Second is simple...Somone who just wants to see the world burn... 4 villains, I think this is rather simple. a Villain should be somone thats the somone on the other side of the Good/Evil spectrum with similar goals. Sorta like Tymoran vs. Beshaban, Surface elf vs. Drow, or Knights/Paladins vs. Velshroonites/Red Wizards/ Random other evil mages. |

2. Androltous - trying to take over all of the multiverse - hey, it's ambitious, even if it was doomed to fail. Obviously not an Amia NPC tho. 3. I've always felt that the one thing that really gets to me is when villains use their magnificent bastard escaping device e.g. consciousness transference. No matter how many times you foil their evil plots, they keep slipping through your fingers to return at a later date. 4. Villains are the the way in which we learn that the faintest bit of humanity (even if the villians aren't human) makes evil all the more shocking. It's the thought that society has failed these individuals, that we have in some way made them into what they are. If they have human motives, if they are ambitious and reckless, that sets them up to be so much more than if they were cold and indifferent. |
