I used to play on a server called "Noctar's Noble Realm" in the Story lobby a long time ago. (Still there, but it only has about 3 players max and all my characters were gone when I checked, not surprisingly) Is there anyone here that used to play on that server? There was of course major drama and everything went down hill from there. Wasn't an "AWESOME" closer to strict RP server either like Amia. Just curious, let me know if you played there ever.

The name sounds familiar. Which means I must have tried it once in the past and didn't think much of it.
Where mah Nordoks at?!

First server I ever played was a nordock server with two of my dude friends. I was terrified of bigger servers and internet people. Teehee.

I got my start on a server called Metropolis.
The player 'dinnerandashow' and I used to play there together a ton.

I think the first server i ever played on was Come to La La Land, which had something about Nordock in it somewhere, i have no idea really.... But i originally started this game due to my cousin forcing me to buy it... or more of him buying it for me, or 75% of it for me anyway.

"Come to La La Land" was where a lot of the Noctar's crowd ended up for a while when there was a *death* in the server staff. (Became sort of depressing.) Still nothing compared to the ruleset (Amia ruleset) that keeps out the "Deathsheads" and the "Bilbo Baggins" of the nwn world. Was just interested if there where any here from that specific server.

Oooh, oooh! Lala Land was like my 1st server way, way back when! Maybe that's where I remember Noctar's. Yeah, I think I do now. Cuz I remember the death and how numbers went down. And then when the server stopped showing up on my favorites I just forgot about it.
Noctar's> Lala. Even though Lala was were I first made Beldor. ^^ Well, his alt-reality version where if you think he's not nice now...heh...yeah... Amia's Beldor looks like Mr. Rogers compared to what his first incarnation is. >_> Boy, those were the good old days.
But I eventually quit Lala because I found the GM's a bit ingenuous. Especially when I changed accounts and I continually emailed over the course of the year for my PC's to get transfered and they never did. I did like it for a Nordock, though. *sigh* Good times.

Same here. I started out on La La Land and was extremely happy when I ended up on a hardcore RP server with 10 other players. Because La La Land was just a bit stupid for my taste.

Np, La La and Noctar's Nordock shared many of the same players over time so both are actually relevant. Thanks for acknowledging the existence of players from where I had my roots back in the day. Scary enough when I look in the Story lobby Noctar's Nordock is still there with like 3 players all the time. Betcha that's a tight knit community... (or scary, you pick one)

I definitely remember Noctar's now, I can't believe how I forgot it.
Tesuyo Oni-Genbu, Leon Stormbringer. Those were my characters there. I forget the DMs name, but there was a husband and wife. The wife passed and then the husband stepped up. Grim. I think we called him Grim. So many good memories. Crafting system was pretty good. Not extremely gold and equipment starved like Lala.

Shamefully I admit that my firt RP server was a LotR server, and then I moved onto Salru, a server I know none of you were on because the few who came here, came here because of me.

i started on a pvp server something about winter or something. it was dumb and i hated it so i looked for rp servers. saw amia had the most people at the time (that day i suppose) and joined. only left for a short time to check out arelith and ive been mostly on amia ever sense. i go to arelith soooometimes when i am feeling rp deprived, but i like amia better for a lot of reasons. i wish amia had areliths feeling of a more tangible world, but its all good.

The second server I went to was a hardcore server called Arterious or something. It started with A anyway. It was a low level, hardcore RP, perma-death server set in a faerunian version of the renascence period. The main town was a port city. It had pistols, rifles as well as the normal set of weapons. My character was a pistol/cutlass wielding rogue pirate. Best RP I have ever had. I still remember it fondly to this day. It was a very very sad day when I had to leave it because of life stuff, and even sadder when I realized it was gone.
Third server was Storm Nexus. Stuff happened there, it was weird. The owner was full of crap, and I ended up banned on account of abusing a bug (A bug the owner knew about, as did all the devs and DM's and had known for ages, yet never warned any players or tried to fix/isolate it. I didn't know it was a bug, but as I said, owner was a bloody asshole.) At least one person I played with ended up coming to Amia.

My beginnings actually were around Polish RP servers only. Amia was my first try on an English-based one, and it's absolutely great in here.
First ever server of mine was Studnia Dusz (The Well of Souls). Quite crowded for a Polish server (up to 30 people on weekends), and had some interesting mechanics in it. Every race started in a certain location, could get eventually get a pass to other races' towns by an DM event or RP-ing towards that way. To rest, you needed a set for campfire - a blanket and additional torches were optional additions. They did add some additional bonuses, like shorter resting time or smaller chance to being ambushed. Played as Half-Orc with a pass to Human settlement. Was fun, good times. Back in 2006.
Next was Olmindon. Oh boy, that was some QUALITY RP! Unfortunately, this came with extreme restrictions on races, weapons and the level of RP the players were representing. It brought the 'quality over quantity' proverb WAY TOO much. Add to that absolutely hardcore enemies, crafting which simply led you to die if you went crafting an area too far, and almost-dead community. 5 players tops on weekends. Just me and other guy were regular visitors there.
But the design was lovely - lots of custom items, reworked armour/weapons mechanics, very good crafting system. It all would be really, really excellent if not for lack of players and such a strict DM team. But I gotta admit - every single DM event was an epic adventure in itself. Great stuff.
And for a while Przystan NWN (NWN Shipyard). Was nice, was fun but the scale was way too epic. 90% of characters over 30 LVLs (cap was up to 40) that didn't even bother staying around starting areas at all. And there was way too modest variety of beginning characters - you had to stick up to a few of them, unless they've advanced themselves enough to freely leave you alone. But the DMs were active and often were doing low-level events which felt really good.
Now Amia. I am happy.
Sorry for long post. :3

My first was "Narc's Bonds of Blood", it was fairly active at the time and so-so on mechanics, crafting, and RP. The main reason I was there was because I didn't have all of NWN at the time, just the original with no expansions. It was the only populated server that I could play on.
After I finally got the Diamond Edition I loaded it up and hopped into Amia. Didn't know what the hell I was doing. My first char was a Drow, since I was in that phase at the time. No, it wasn't a knock off of Drizzt as I've never even read an R.A. Salvatore book. It was hard from the very beginning, considering I rolled him as CG (Shh, still not a knock off!) and started at the shrine. Didn't know anything of what to do, where to go.
I got lucky by bumping into -Hatred- on Rith. Told me where to go and gave me some tips. On my way to Cordor I bumped into a dwarf chick and a human cybering in Bendir, who my Char became friends with and they generously showed him the way to Cordor and then around the city there-after. After bumping into Rith again in Cordor, my char tended to tag along behind her due to her (basically) saving his life from Gobbo's near Kampos, because she knew a lot about Amia, and because she was Drow.

Realms of Annakolia. The very FIRST place Eldainia was created. Let's just say she was way different then, barely even the same person. Ugh and I had no concept of DnD or builds. Ranger/rogue/bard in full plate with evenly spread out stats and skill points with a great sword. Oooh. ooh...and a level 3 panther when she was lvl 15 because it was 'a cute kitty!'.
Eldainia has been reincarnated on World Serpent Inn, Hero's Stone and Realms of Tanalith. I miss Herostone though. Good grief that server was HARD but you enjoyed it.
Melogant was born on Lala Land just out of the blue.
Angelicae is purely Amia inspired.
The Job system here reminds me for the player run one on Phoenix Rising. Sadly it's gone now. Really sad, it had level reactive dungeons that would ramp up the CR of the encounters and numbers in a spawn based on the Highest party member.
Gallows Birds was a friend's server and I just couldn't get into it because population was tiny. Good architecture though.

I actually came from an action server Higher Ground, I still play there on occasion. It's an action server to the core, there's an RP server but it's completely unused. Anyways, that server encourages it's players to come up with crazy builds like my 35/4/1 Bard/Paladin/Monk that dual wields Katanas. I got really good at building there as well, and some of that's rubbed off on me. For all of my characters, I've actually -intentionally- weakened them somehow from a mechanics point of view, since I figured that power-building and RP don't often mix together in good taste...
For RP servers, this is the first one I've been on.

Before Amia I only ever went to one server, and it was way back when NWN first came out. I'll be damned if I can remember what it was called (and it is stretch to say I roleplayed there, I really just hung out with my nerd friends).
All I remember is that Peter Pan was an NPC easter egg kinda thing you could find in the forest.

I started on some weird action server that started with "Dragon"-something, I met Drizzt's cousin there! Then I tried some "RP" server that spammed auctions in the shout channel (//Longsword +3, XXXXX$ meet in YYYYY all the time). Settled half a year or such on City of Arabel and then Amia.

My first server was Narc's Chapter 2 Bonds of Blood, an RP server based on 3.5. That's where I started Kudark, he's still 12th level. I loved it...until nearly everyone came here, or Arelith...
I came here, started a character, and wasn't even out of the entry room (was way different than now) before some jackass made comments about my intro armor and threatened to kill my character as soon as I stepped in-game. I didn't return.
Then I went to Narc's Chapter 1 Tale of the Seven Dragons, it was empty, cold, and bare. I had free run of the server and solo'd to my hearts content. I actually saw a few people there, and got into a party too...once. that got old quick because I was looking for RP.
That's when I tried Arelith on for size, and someone busted my balls for running. I was doing the messenger quest, and he was in a hurry...so he ran. *sigh*
So, I came back here, created 'Lonesome' Crow, and I'm still here. Thanks for keeping me interested everybody.

I first played Wheel of Time, which lasted a few weeks, then went to Three Towns (very heavily quest-based) for a month or three. Then Amia. Been to a few others since, including WSI & PotM, but nothing that stuck. I lasted about 30 min on Arelith before dying of starvation while trying to figure out what to do.

It's cool if you're into hardcore like that, but a bit too real for me! This wasnt just me? Thank god! Funny, I described having this exact same experience to another player just this evening. I don't play NWN so that I can RP the thrilling experience of eating lunch. I can do that without a computer, even. I play NWN to RP being an adventurer.

//I just wrote up a big post...and I think the forums ate it...
Edit: FOUND IT!
I did give Arelith a serious go a few years back. I have to say, and I don't mean this badly towards the designers here but, Arelith is gorgeous. It makes Amia's area's (With the exception of Amia Forest) look rank and basic in comparison. The only issue I have with Arelith design wise is the brown. My gods, in a age where every game seems to have obscene amounts of brown why the hell did they make Cordor look like it has pollution issues?
Anyway, while I never died from lack of food or water, what got me was the leveling issues. It was very very slow going, even getting my first level was a nightmare. Their introduction quest, which is essential for a new character, is very very long winded and doesn't show you the main places you need to go nearly as well as Amia's.
The funny thing about Arelith was that I honestly found making red and purple gay gnome brothers with numbers to be the most fun I've had on Arelith. Even taking the piss out of the DM's avatar was fun. When we didn't have to worry about the water/food system or all the other things because we didn't expect to stick around. We expected to be banned, immediately. But that didn't happen, and instead we got to experience some of Areliths very very good RP community, who didn't break IC to even make one comment about how our PC's looked. We ended up with Tells about how amusing the characters where, but ultimately got banned. Still, I found it interesting that we had more fun when we could RP without worrying about all their silly hardcore features. Which leads me to believe that at times, Areliths hardcore features actually take away from the fun you can have while rping there, and that's a real shame.

Oh gosh, my first server was Amia, but that's not particularly a good thing since I didn't even know it was a roleplay server (shame on me). Luckily the players at the time (2006-2007 I believe) were kind enough to explain to me how to roleplay and create an appropriate character. It's those people that kept me coming back and I'm still here today.

First server was actually Amia, even if it was just a sitting in the entry with a friend and wowing at someone coming in and walking to the entry mirror. Then took complete noobiness to Arelith for 2 weeks, learned how to walk with an elf, how to use tells, etc etc. Came back to Amia. Have no intention to play anywhere else, even though I can't really play here right now either.

I started my NWN career on some ridiculous PvP server that started you at level 30 and would let you pump your gear up to absolutely crazy levels. After getting bored with the pure hack'n'slash of a PvP server, I went in search of something with a bit more substance. I looking around at different server's websites and came across Arelith. As I was reading through their forum I saw something about some upstarts who had split off of Arelith and made their own version of the server called Amia. I liked the idea of playing with a group of rebellious upstarts... so on to Amia I came. I've poked around at a few other servers, but never really found anything that could hold my interest for longer than a day at most.
