So, if you ever happen to lose your wand in some way, is it possible for DM's to take it out of your inventory if you ask?

Possible and probable!

I'll bow my head to the first player who actually says goodbye for long terms to the portal wand.

Been done quite some time back already actually.

I can think of a few on top of my head. Last one was Shortslasher's char, As i recall?

There have been characters in the past that have... erm... had them forcibly taken in a plot.

Could be fun to walk for a change.

You can travel everywhere on Amia without a portal wand.

You could also Walk to Cordor -> Portal to Monolith -> Boat to Wiltun

OR

Walk to Forest -> Go to shadowscape - >Traverse Shadow Plane -> Shade of Endir's -> Boat to Wiltun

Ahhh, see, now you've got it.

This also begs the question why actually have the wand removed? Ok it's 2 seconds out of a DM's time, but then presumably 2 more seconds to give the character one back, when they get back to whatever place on Cordor Docks (or Shrine, or U/D) where such things are shoved into the hand of absolutely everyone who appears new there....

Is there an established I/C 'source' of the wands? The Tour Guides, now, or what?

Yes. The Mystrans. They sell them and attune them to adventurers one time (when you begin the game) as part of some research collective. They're not exactly in prototype stage still, but due to certain conditions that a handful of people know about, there's still some things to be learned about them and their interaction with an unusual type of energy.

Like when they go buggy and you end up being sent through a warped, twisted portal landing in the Forest of Despair, on your last charge, instead of in The Nomad (where you wanted to go).

AKA, where lag glitches eat your face.

Mika lor, and it wasnt from a dm taking it, was stolen by a player. Had to go almost two months without one. Made for some awesome rp, and I really got to see some of the isle that i hadnt seen in almost 3 years.
