Hello all,
I've been absent a good long time, at least 18 months. I just re-installed NWN and logged into Amia. There used to be an avatar in a room just beyond the entryhall where you could reactivate old saved characters that you hadn't played in a while. I tried speaking to the Gobofier and Kobofier in the maintenance hall and got told to shove off.
Is it possible to ressurect old pcs? Thanks

Try typing "/s ?" for instructions.

OK. Done. Wow. It looks easier to just start a new pc My first question, can anyone expand on those instructions? For instance, where do I type f_File etc? Into the talk bar? Or into the cursor top left of the screen(after I've pressed `). I tried both variatns for 10 minutes and didn't get anywhere. And what exactly are the arguments, parameters etc I'd need to type to find an old pc and unarchive it? Or more precisely, what exactly do I have to type? I don't mean to be rude, but for someone with no experience of modding or programming NWN the instructions are far from clear.

What's the procedure if you can't go past the mirror because you have an old PCKEY item that isn't recognised, and hence it thinks you're rebuilding?

OK. Typing f_file ? works and gives me an explanation about which terms should be used in which arguments. However when I typed: f_file [Show] [vault] or f_file [Show] [archive] or indeed f_File [Show] [archive] and many other variants of upper and lower case letters, I didn't get the list of my archived characters. So, have I typed something incorrectly - used the wrong case or put a "space" where a "space" doesn't belong? Or does it mean that the pc's that were in the archive 18 months ago have been wiped? Thanks

Fairly sure ya dont need to type in the [ or ]
So would just be...
/s f_file show archive/vault
/s f_file restore
/s f_file store
And so on.

Final question
So, I've typed in correctly. It showed me the character in the vault I made today. But listed no characters in the archive when I typed f_file Show archive.
Were all the records wiped sometime in the last 18 months? I'm logging in with the same user name that I've always used.

You need to tell it to 'show vault' not show archive. At least, I'm assuming you didn't try that already.

I typed show vault too. It just showed me the pc I rolled up today to get access to Amia.

Perhaps you need to actually log onto that character and then log them off so that they get saved, and then presumably show up when you do the show vault command. Unless the character isn't available at character selection, which is a whole different problem.

It should be under archive and not vault, actually. And the one you're playing when you do the f_file show archive command should not appear in the list at all, since it's not in the archive if you're playing the PC. Try f_file show archive in the Shout channel one more time, all lowercase. I don't know if case makes any difference, but it's how I always do it, and I play with my character files all the time without trouble.

Thanks for the help. After typing: f_file show archive It says janbusta's character list (or archive list, can't remember), and then nothing. Which seems to imply I have no archive? And no saved characters?
Did something happen to DC's as well? Cos it used to be that if you hit yourself with the DC wand you could find out how many DC's you had. I hit myself with the wand and a basic info box came up saying that more details about DC's could be found on the forum. But it didn't give me an option to see how many dc's I had. Last time I logged, two years ago, I had a few saved. Not worried about losing the DC's, just wondering if it indicates soemthing abuot the problem with my archive?
I guess I'll be starting from level 1 again unless someone can offer any other advice.
thanks

Well you have two log ins here...Jan Busta and janbusta. Perhaps that's why you can't find any of the old characters?
I'm seeing all your PC's in the "Jan Busta" account. "janbusta" has no DC's and very few characters while "Jan Busta" has a good amount of both.
If you have trouble logging in with the "Jan Busta" account, then you just need a PC key verification. Easily done. But it could certainly explain why you're not seeing any archived PC's. Wrong account.

Wow, thanks for taking the time and looking into it. It's been two years, and I was wondering if I had been using a slightly different login. Now I just have to try and remember the password I was using
