Does the ice storm from water genasi and fireball from fire genasi increase in power as you lvl? |

Awesome, thank you. Do you always keep the one use per day or does it raise? |

It's just the one use per day yeah, AFAIK. |

Eh, I spaced out, I listed the wizard Fireball/Ice Storm damage. I don't know about the racial spell, I can assume it's the same, but I won't. |

Fire Genasi's Fireball never got beyond 1d6 (or something similarly low) on my lvl 15ish guy. Never tried Ice Storm. |

Dunno, Maybe? I usually fire off a few False alarms in the bug thread every month, but it's better to report than not report. Who knows, It 'may' be quite serious... Let a Developer chime in :> |

Dunno. I'll take a look, I have to fix some of the svirfneblin spell-likes anyway. |

Yeah, I've taken a look through 'em all and they need work. They shall be fixed! Fire/Water/Air Genasi all need fixing, as does Camouflage on Svirfneblin. If there's any more, now is the time to chime in... |

The extra ECL has always been a nail in the eye for me about Subraces. *Dances around happily* |

Because it doesn't significantly differ from some base races that get similar boni/penalties without ECL. Keep in mind that the subrace boni do not add to the normal base race boni, so an Elf Air Genasi will not get total +4 DEX, but will only get +2 DEX after the boni have been applied. |

Thank you for answering Nekhy. Very_Svensk wrote: The extra ECL has always been a nail in the eye for me about Subraces. *Dances around happily* Ha! Bet you wish you made Valbella a stone genasi now huh? You could've gotten 2 extra STR for free *Dances with Svensk* |

*Dances a jittery bug!* Nayyy... it means that I've always been reluctant to play the Genasi Subraces due to the very reason nekhy described The Bonuses were never really any bonuses, just Ability points switched around a little, And since the Subrace didn't made logical sense at creation, how could it make sense at all. *Shrug* And yeah - Would've been ace to have had Valbela with extra STR; But that would've forfeited her dwarvenness! Really?? Genasi are becoming +0 ECL races?! I...I kinda agree with dramatic prince. There's no reason not to be an air genasi when playing a sneaker-based character. Similarly there's little point in playing a human barbie when earth genasi is right there with a free stoneskin (which is very very useful might I add). Now they all get the extra feat at 30 as well right? Just because its 4 up 4 down doesn't mean it's "balanced" and therefore requires 0 ECL. Have to look at these things as a whole and not just basic arithmetic. Anyways, i'm out. |

DnD and the Subraces existing in the Forgotten realms are rarely logical. The issue the Team is having is that they're trying to create realism and a living world similar to the Forgotten realms... And still adhere to the basic mechanical rules of the game and the balance as a whole. It's like balancing on three lemons at once. |

That's like saying there's no reason for every melee-based character not to be an Orc. Some people actually value RP, believe it or not. Will some people build sneak PC's just because of Air Genasi? Possibly. That's the same with any race, any build, on any server. But the difference is on our RP server is that not everything is determined by pure stats. Maybe a little better in PvM, PvP, but when it comes time for some shit to get done that actually has a lasting effect, who's going to look at the guy who dumped every skill and stat so he can solo as a sneak? No one. They just become server fodder and eventually the player moves on to something more munchkiny, whether it be another PC or another server, because there are arguably easier places to be a munchkin than Amia. |

Shifter was a "RP class". then it got turned into a powerhouse. That argument doesn't fly. Mechanics are just as important as RP. Otherwise divine might/shield would have remained the same, Monk AC wouldn't have been changed, the bigby line wouldn't be getting reworked, heal potions wouldn't have been changed; GS would still be the same, EDK wouldn't have been nerfed into the ground (another bugbear of mine); I really could go on and on. All I'm saying is that without the ECL +1, its all gain with no drawbacks |

| Post subject: | Re: Fire and water... gensasi |
And all I'm saying is that we're not going to see a flood of air genasi sneakers just because of it. And I refute your "mechanics being just as RP" statement. It's RP that is usually the base of our mechanics on Amia. Divine Shield and Might got changed because it didn't make any damn IC sense for a lv29 sorc with one Paladin level to get the same divine blessing as a lv 29paladin with 1 sorc. Being drop dead gorgeous and sitting in on a few sermons does not make the god become enamored with you over someone who's actually dedicated their life to him. From what I see Shifter was much changed, and forms in general, so people could viably play and RP a Shifter, not a shifter/monk AC-whore. Now I'm not saying every change is based off of RP. And I'll be damned if I'm going to sit here and defend every change like it is. But Amia is an RP server. So at the end of the day, whatever we change, it's usually in the interest that something doesn't appear, act, or effect something else in a ridiculous IC manner. |
