I hope this is the right thread for this...

For the job system, I know that Armor and Weapon smiths can somehow blend their metals/fashioned armors/weapons with existing weapons and armors.

I was wondering if the same can be done with the products of the Bowyers and Fletchers?

I have tried a few times to accomplish this, but I do not know if my failure is based on not doing it right or it's just not possible to do.

So, knowing if it's possible or not would be appreciated so I know if I should continue trying to blend.

Thanks.

I think it would depend entirely on what "blend" actually means. Do you mean changing its appearance?

Blending is basically...
Lets say you've got Chain mail +3 and a set of Mithril Chain mail you've made. Somehow you're able to blend the two items together, so that the +3 mail gains the qualities of the mithril as well as the notation as being made by you.

I've never done the weaponsmith or armorsmith jobs so I'm not completely sure of the process. I've just seen the end results.

You can't combine the buffs on one item onto another one.. you can however mythal up the Mithril platemail up with 3 other powers as it's got 10-40% of original weight taking up 1 power slot.

Same translates to Bowyer and fletcher jobs.

I thought there was something where you could transfer the properties of armour X to armour Y? Or similar with weapons.

You can do that, yes. but the properties of armor Y are completely replaced by the properties of armor X.

Right.
But can you do that with bows and arrows, or is it just limited to armors and weapons?

Really? I've not even heard of that. Is there somewhere that explains that process?

If I remember correctly, it was still kinda wonky and could result in a complete loss of stuff.

I've accomplished it many times without problems, using the Weaponsmith, Armorsmith, and Tailor jobs, but I don't recall reading that the system was implemented for Bowyer.

Why would you ever want to alter the appearance of arrows or bolts or whatever? The things you make with the Fletcher job don't actually show up on screen, do they? There's no appearance there to change, to my knowledge.

And, I think the bowyer job adds things that are hard to find elsewhere, namely different damage types. That's the selling point, I think.

Doesn't what? It doesn't add extra damage types? It most certainly does.

Well, as a bowyer I can say that it depends on the wood you use. There's four woods. Two give an AB bonus, one gives alternative damage type, and one offers reduced weight.

This is similar with metals, as each metal offers a different kind of effect. For fletching, it's a damage bonus. I could assume that the same is true for weapon smith. For armor smith, though, I couldn't say what the different metals provide.

Yep. The different materials produce minor enhacements. For instance, usually an AB or AC bonus versus a specific creature or type of damage. Like, +1AB vs shapechangers for silver weapons or 40% weight reduction for Mithril. The addition of mythaled powers usually outshines these abilities though.

But, how exactly does this blending work though?

If you mean mechanics, I'm told there's a dialog that opens in the Armorsmith or Weaponsmith work bench. I'm not sure if its always there or only activates when you put in two items.

If you mean IG? I'm not sure if it's supposed to represent the character alloying an existing weapon or if its meant that, hey, look, I forged this weapon.

I may just have to take one of my alts and buy up one or the other in jobs and see what it does first hand, at least for the mechanical.

Having had a character that was a bowyer and a fletcher, I can safely say that while the different woods offer up a small bonus to different qualities on the bows or arrows made, it in no way comes close to what you can just mythal onto the items themselves. In most cases, it's actually better to make a plain old bow or arrow, mythal it, rename it keep going from there.

Sadly, While you can craft Bludgeoning damage bows with the Job system, There's already bows with Bludgeoning damage in shops around amia.
