I was looking for some pros and cons of the various on hit functions of the divine mythal. Since this is a one time shot I wanted to make an educated decision on the application I chose. Things I am unsure of include the saving throw category applicable to each function and which function is more likely to be succeessful, monster immunities to certain functions, and historical Amia "no-nos" for a paladin to use a function. I tried searching the threads for similar topics to no avail. Thanks. For those who have never seen one, the following functions are possible, all have DC 20:
Blind 50% / 2 rds
Confuse 50% / 2 rds
Daze 50% / 2 rds
Deafness 50% / 2 rds
Diseases (there are 6 diseases for selection, but I will not be considering using them)
Doom 50% / 2 rds
Fear 50% / 2 rds
Hold 50% / 2 rds
Silence 50% / 2 rds
Slow 50% / 2 rds
Stun 50% / 2 rds

Well, I'd say either stun or fear. But you'd be depending on people rolling 1's for the most part considering everyone has relatively decent saves(In the 20's).

On hit properties are a no go because they lag the server out so much.

That is why, except 1 or 2 items, there are no items with any on hit properties in the module.

On-hit properties are all over the place. It's on-hit cast spell that's hard to find.
Power perspective, I'd say on-hit blind because the DMs tell me it's powerful because there is no way to guard against it.
You fail against the save, you're as good as a sweetberried drow.

On hit Cast Spell is the no-go. Onhit effects like the Divine Mythal does are fine, and there's a bajillion of them on shop and lootdrop items.

Assuming the target has rolled a 1:

Stun and Fear are all blocked by mindspell immunity and class immunity (Palemasters can't be Stunned, Paladin are immune to Fear), but they are pretty nice.

Daze can be removed by the target if they drink a Mindblank, so it's near-worthless in PvP, but okay in PvM.

Confuse is a tricky one since one third of the time, a Hostile enemy will attack you anyway, and in PvP situations it usually almost invariably causes the Confused person to hit an innocent bystander. One third of the time it cause them to wander randomly, one third they attack an enemy, one third they attack anyone except people in their party. If you've ever been hit by the Umber Hulk Confusion attack in the Illithid Lair, you might have seen the battlelog spam messages about not being able to perform that action because of PvP settings. That's why. Anyone out of party in a PvP enabled zone, or to put it simply, anyone who tabs up blue or red, is fair game. The trouble is everyone who doesn't know the effect of Confusion and is a crybaby will throw a great big hissy fit when they get attacked by the Confused character without supporting RP and Hostile setting, and they'll be too busying spitting their dummy out to listen while you explain this mechanic and therefore the fact the player didn't do it on purpose and had no way of preventing it, short of logging out. Also, it's blocked by mindspell immunity.

Disease is almost completely worthless since a Bubbly potion blocks the effects even if the target is asleep and doesn't just use a healkit or other curative to get rid of the disease before it kicks in, which takes a couple of turns. Any monster will be dead by then, and players will just cure themselves.

Hold and Slow are both blocked by Freedom. Hold is good, but Slow is just okay.

Doom is an annoyance that lowers saves and AB by 2, but if your plan is to hold out for the other guy/critter to roll a 1 so you can get some other effect like Devcrit to roll a 3 or a 2 as well as a 1, then you need a better plan. Lesser Restore fixes it, too.

Silence and Deafness are both unresistable, but are worthless against non-casters, and in fact Deafness is a 100% immunity buff against sonic damage.

Blind is unresistable and messes everyone up.

So take Blind.

I am disappointed in seeing this post. You send me a PM trying to weed out the strongest onhit and then when we have a minor discussion you follow up with a public post essentially asking people to powergame for you instead of choosing the most appropriate one for your Paladin weilding a divine weapon.

Confusion is great because you can have people flatfooted and doing nothing in return for your attacks, downside is that they might attack you..

Blindness gives them 50% miss chance BEFORE concealment miss chance is applied (I think), and completely messes them up in terms of following you. But they CAN still attack you or heal.

Tossup between the two.

This should really been a discussion in general about onhits rather than completely divulging the props of a rare RP item, I feel. >_>

Uberuce, thank you for the detailed information you provided. And thanks all for responding with our perspectives. I should have enough information now to make an educated decision on how to use this thing.

Tormak, I am unsure what function you were referring to when you said, "instead of choosing the most appropriate one for your Paladin weilding a divine weapon." If there is a function which I should clearly be selecting, that information would be helpful to know and would be my most likely choice, if you would be so kind as to share this with me.

P.s., Torm, I am timid by nature and the confrontational nature of the PM left me choosing to discontinue the dialog.
Thank you all again

Personally I'd go with Silence, but I just dislike casters.

slow or blind
Why? 'cause both works on everything, including undead.

Slow will not work on anyone with Freedom, which bars it from much use in PvP. But for PvM, it's nice.

Discontinue the dialog all you lke, but do not then purposefully bring the discussion publically under false pretenses because the DM wouldn't tell you hwow to do the best in PVP and to, quote "have the onhit best suited for killing palemasters and blackguards".
