Group A [defenders] is attacked by group B [attackers]

a survivor of Group A [defenders] calls group C [relief] for help.

Group C [relief] summons a war force.

Group C [relief] does not know if combat continues between groups A [defenders] and B [attackers]

what RP is required? is the rp justification for combat considered as having occured, as group B [attackers] attacked group A [defenders]. Or does group C need to run into a possible pvp zone and chat casually to group B [attackers] before they can drive them out?

Not always possible, often difficult. Clarifications on RP rules for supporting combatants, please.

Joining a pre-existing combat to heal / raise / assist the pre-existing combatants is already covered in the rules. If you do something to take sides (like attack the Group B, in your example) then you've entered PvP and are a legit target.

A bit of further pondering led me to suspect that I kind of danced around your question in my last post... if I'm understanding it right, your question is not "what happens when Group C attacks Group A," but rather, "is it legit for Group C to attack Group A."

But I still maintain that the rules as written already cover this... if it were not legit for Group C to attack Group A, then there wouldn't be rules for the consequences of the attack. Because the rules specify what happens when there's an attack like the one you describe, they tacitly endorse the attack.

just my ever-so-humble. :)

So long as everyone in C hostiles everyone in A before the dance resumes. *renews call for PvP tool function that hostiles everyone in the opposing player's party*

No.

Seeing as Ive never come across much problems with outside parties jumping into a fight to help- Only complains are "hostile first!" - Ive got a better question.

what if you decide to preempt and hostile + kill the annoying mage who's camping in neutrality at the battle ground? Just waiting to drop a hot bigby?
I've seen that countless times tbh. Thats a bigger issue imho.

Personally, Im of the thought, where when a battle occurs, you gtfo. Camera men have died while taking shots of a riot. Dont see why it should be any different really.

And another question: Can Group B [initial attackers] KoS group C [reinforcements] ?

My opinion on the matter (read: it's not official) is if you're in the zone, you're fair game.

When the hostilities start and your character sits "idly" by and either pokes jives at the combatants or just stares on without saying a word, you can pretty much consider yourself a target and should run if you don't wanna be involved.

Don't cry foul just because you were an "innocent bystander" when there's a group of evil-doers (drow or otherwise) who are out threatening to kill people.

I don't know about you but if someone comes up in my neighborhood waving guns at my next door neighbor, I'm running in my house and hiding under my bed and calling the cops. I'm not gonna start waving around a gun too or start complaining because they shot me for standing there watching.

Exactly the example I thought of, too.
