I guess this is where questions go about things we are considering requesting, but want to know if it is possible... Painbearer spell, found here: http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/humangods/Ilmater.htm Quote: Favor of Ilmater (Abjuration, Alteration, Necromancy) Sphere: Necromantic, Protection Range: 10 yards/level Components: V, S Duration: instant Casting Time: 6 Area of Effect: the caster and one creature Saving Throw: None the caster may choose to take on all of the hit point damage suffered by another creature, instantly transferring their own current hit points to the injured being by means of the spell. This switch is permanent until the caster uses normal methods to heal the damage. Beings who receive more hit points than they normally possess in this trade lose the excess. This transfer may be done from a distance so long as the spell range is not exceeded, and neither the priest nor the recipient being need make system shock survival rolls unless the transfer of hit points brings the priest to death and does not bring the iniured being up to above zero hit points. In this case, both individuals must make a system shock roll. Failing this roll brings death. Individuals who succeed at the roll are placed in a coma; they are not dead but are unable to heal without magical aid. I want a spell like this for my priest of Ilmater character for the whole taking on the burden of others type thing. It is considered a third level spell, and I'm not quite sure how all those custom spell things work.... If there is a way to directly correlate how much I heal the other person and how much damage I take... if not, eh... casts heal on them and harm on me? idk if that is considered imbalanced for a lvl 3 spell... this character is purely a healer and doesn't participate in combat, if you're looking at it from a "potential powerbuild" perspective... EDIT: found this too. It would be the same thing as a 1/day supernatural ability type thing. Priest of the Unhindered Supernatural Ability found here: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Priest_of_ ... e_Class%29 Quote: True Martyrdom (Su): At 5th level, the Priest can transfer hit points from herself to any creature she touches. This ability can only be done once per day and causes the Priest to become exhausted for 1d4 + 1 hours. If the total current of hit points is used (that is, the Priest will end up at zero hit points), the Priest falls to the floor unconscious for 1d4 + 1 hours and automatically stabilizes. While unconscious, the Priest loses his ability to maintain Divine Links, Sanctuary, and the Aura of Illuminated Preservation. If awoken prior to fully resting, she spends the remainder of the time exhausted.

I am not a pro scriptor but I thing it might be possible to take away the caster's hit points (say 95%) and apply them to the target as temporary hit points. Would that work for your idea? |

I was reading that as more of a "let me suffer so that you may not my child" thing where you give the warrior your hp's as temporary hp's raising them above their max hp's. Sort or a reverse vampric touch thing. Idk... if you are wounded does vampric touch heal w/o them being temporary? If so this would be a neato spell for the good guys! Heals the wounded or gives the healed extra life force |

Somethnig that can be definately done; Spell. When cast, checks targets Damage (Max HP - Current HP). Damages Caster this amount, heals target same amount. If Target Damage greater than Caster HP, then damage Healed and Damage Dealt = Caster HP-1 (therefore the caster won't 'die', it simply limits the amount of damage healed from the target, by keeping him at 1HP) |

sorry to hijack... but might I assume that it would also be feasable in the reverse? As in, taking life from an enemy and adding it to yourself? Id assume that it'd have to be a rather high level spell. |

It would be slightly but not abusively buggy, due to how the functions that store damage just received work. ( IE the damage received would be 1'sies 2'sies off on occasion) But theoretically you could build an AoE spell that curses a party, which divides the damage any member takes to instead be spread evenly among the effected. |

I would assume that all custom spells would be just variations of existing spells, just with minor changes (die number, save needed, damage type). |

I'm pretty sure there is something similar to this in the compendium if not PHB2 |
