Shadovar resemble gaunt humans of average height. The most obvious feature is their near-ethereal aura of shadowstuff, gathering about them like a heavy fog, blurring their features in tendrils of smoke. The darker the environment is, the more insubstantial the Shadovar become, and a host of innate abilities becomes available to them. In bright light, the Shadovar resemble nothing more than a pale human, their powers all but useless.

That is a shade, not a shadovar - they both come from the same city that was locked in the shadow planes.

The Shades are tied to the royal family, the ritual is guarded by them, and they transform only those that would seek to better the city in their goals after returning to this realm.

Your normal Shadovar would be pale skinned, dark haired, and dressed in fashions way out of date. Think of someone that has lived in darkness their whole life.

The Shadovar are ancient Netherese humans that had been taken into the Shadow Plane during an attack on their flying cities by the Phaerimm. The City of Shade was the only city to survive that attack thanks to their ruler Telamont. The Shadovar became a race once they spent all that time inside the Shadow Plane and adapted to the Plane.

All Shadovar are from the city of Shade and the only religion there is Sharran. The most loyal of Shadovar to Telamont and his sons are ascended to Shades, the greatest achievement of the Shadovar.
(Yes, these means Shades have nothing to do with following Shar, its about pleasing the boss and his sons, and they perform a special ritual to imbue the Shadovars body with the essence of shadow.)

So Shadovar = Netherese. They are the same race, just one has been in the Shadow Plane forever.

Shadovar look like normal humans only their skin is very pale to gray. They tend to have dark hair and eyes from what I have collected.

They have returned to Material Plane to take back Netheril and exterminate all of the Phaerimm in the realms.


I am pretty sure there is more but that is all I can think of at the moment. Just ask if there is something specific.
