When running nwn on my laptop, it's laggy, and the problem is that whatever processor I make it use, it uses the entire capacity. I have a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T6600 (2.2Ghz), I'm aware that I can edit the nwn.ini and make it use either processor, but as said, both use their full 100% when I make nwn use it.
Any solutions to this?

I have been trying to assign servers/toolset/nwmain to different cores and in the end only one thing worked: http://robpol86.com/pages/imagecfg.phpFor me (Phenom 9500) the numbers are different. I needed to use the -u option first, btw. My setup (mind that this is my modding machine, not the server) 0x1 = core 1 Firefox, MSN (MSN really messes up NWN with alt-tab) 0x3 = core 2 nwtoolset.exe 0x5 = core 3 nwserver.exe 0x7 = core 4 nwmain.exe I had to turn off all CPU affinity options in the NWN/NWNX ini files. Machine runs a lot smoother when modding/testing with all three programs running, so this trick is not just handy for servers.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe The spaces seem to fuck it up, how do I get it to use that path?

It doesn't seem to matter however, because the processor nwn uses is always at 100%, I've made sure FF & msn use my first processor, nwn uses my second, still it uses up the 100% =/ I don't get it really, nwn used to run fine on a 2.2ghz Single core processor

It probably uses the full core as your effectively running a 2.2ghz processor when playing the game. Similar to myself. Generally you can overclock these however, like I run mine at 2.3ghz.
Its the unfortunate downside of gaming with multi core technology, and why it can sometimes be worth jumping down a few cores for that extra oomph per core. If I had bought my core instead of recieving it as a gift I would have jumped down to an intel duel core 3.0 instead of a quad 2.2.

O, I thought it was using two cores.
NWN almost always goes to 100% for one core, and it isn't the only program I know of that does that. It will be happy with less as well, but simply grab as much as it can have.

Is the lag I'm experiencing not due to the 100% of one core if that's what it usually does?

I doubt it. Try another server and see what happens?

I get it on any server it seems, it's not the kind of lag that freezes the game for a few seconds, just the game not running as smooth as it should, and occasionally freezing very shortly (Talking milliseconds).
It's only a minor inconvenience tho'.

Defrag your drive, fiddle with your settings ingame, make sure your system drive has enough space, etc?

Drive has 100 gigs left, the game runs exactly the same on minimal settings as on best, I'll try the defrag.

Not CPU, its your Video card. What do you have? Sounds like the old "Wah? What's backwards compatabilty?" thing ATI and Nvidia seem to be into with their drivers these days.

That will probably do it. I've found any of the HD series is gonna have some major slowdown with NWN. You might want to see how far back your drivers can go, and then try dropping back as far as possible.

I took the oldest Win Vista (x64) driver I could find (I have win 7), I tried a win xp one, but that didn't want to install, it seems to be better now, not completely gone, but way less frequent lag. Thanks

I had this problem too, although you seem to have figured something out, for me I found running this program before NWN and setting nwnmain.exe to only use Core 0 fixed the lagginess completely. Make sure to pick show all user processes if nwnmain.exe doesn't show up if you decide to try it. http://www.bitsum.com/prolasso.php
