Need a bit of help.. trying to update the HAK, but my comp is screwy.. everytime I try to download, a screen comes up sayign Internet Explorer could not open it, the website you requested is not there, cannot be found or is no longer available.
Help?

I would say try Firefox if you have it as i did not have any problems when i down loaded the hak using it.

Or update your IE to version 8. Amia's website isn't made to work on lesser versions of IE.

it's not just Amia's website that's giving him problems. I tried e-mailing the compressed file directly to him (through MSN/hotmail), and he still couldn't download it, apparently.

Disable any Firewall or Anti-virus software you have.

I can't say I have any amount of experience with the situation you're describing, but if you can't download anything, I would highly recommend also running a virus scan. I can imagine a few reasons a virus might disable the ability to download non-web files.

Yea... this all started after I started to compress some old files to clean up disk space, and it canceled in mid compress, all of a sudden.. my wallpaper is ripped from my screen, all the icons on my desktop are gone, and I can't even save microsoft word documents O.O; nothign deleted, just squeezed and hiding ><

Ionno, it goes a bit slower when opening IE, and it can't download anything, nor will it let me chang my desktop wallpaper ><. I can't even get my MSN up >< BUT my game works  (On the laptop now..)

The first thing I would have asked was whether you had administrator access or not. A few years back I was under some really strict admin settings which meant I couldn't download files over a certain size. But that's not the issue here clearly...
If worse comes to worse, considering you were defraging your Hardrive... you could try a system restore.

System restore sounds like the best idea. Will give that a try, if not, I have connections with a family friend who can help if I can't fix on my own
