Interested in Playing a Drow ( I've resisted making one for the longest time ). However, I cant say i want to play the one of the two "Cliche" Drow types (Aka : Goody Two Shoes Drizzit | Or Super Evil Power hungry Drow pants).
What im honestly interested in, is a Chaotic Neutral Male Drow that goes back and forth between the Surface and Underdark, Who always tries to be on the Winning side of the conflict.
Therefore, my questions are..
What is the best way to go about becoming an Outcast Drow With a New character (Non Preexisting) and not being sacrificed/ect.
And.. Are there any opinions on this style of Drow RP?

Talk to Drakos Vek. He's got an outcast that isn't an Eili.

Drizzt was bad *** not goody-two shoes... *shuns*
But, you should RP an evil drow fighting the evil. He/she wants to fight the evil, but struggles throughout thier whole life. You are drow, but do you have to walk down the same path as your parents/kinsmen? Can a man/woman change his/her stars? Or do you just try and fail?
But, I suggest doing it with a Tiefling.. Drows are hard to pull it off with.. MOST drow are SUPER evil. But hey, we have people pulling off crazy IC reasons for having wings and just letting them flow. In medeval times, that person would've been slain in a moment.. So good-aligned drows aren't an impossible goal.
I wish you luck, I myself play a physcotic tiefling whom tries to fight the evil inside him, but that is almost impossible having a guilty consious because of his past events and dirty-deeds. He also sometimes hears 'Voices'. Just have fun and be creative with it.

I just want to avoid the Two Strong Cliches that are expected from a Drow Character. Plus i think that playing A Chaotic Neutral Drow who is 100% Unpredictable would be fun. Someone who is on the Side of Good one day and Over to Evil the next.. based on Which ever will profit him more!

Add some emotional unstability and maybe a odd or humilating past, throw in a either high-ego or shy attitude and you sir have an excellent RP character.

There are several non-Lolthite cities that your drow could come from that would probably allow your concept for a character to live. There's one that isn't even matriarchal. I'd recommend doing some research on the FR wiki to learn about those cities. I could tell you here, but you're more likely to retain the information if you search for it yourself.

Ah. I am touched that AxLeigh actually mentioned me personally to come here and say a piece. My character Drakos is similar to that, his a drow that works for his sole interests. My few tips would be this. 1. Do not go willingly into combat against any factions, except for groups like the Banites, Cyricists and what not (Don't kill any evil drow). Doing this will make you more... likable on the surface. 2. Make friends in high places, don't do favours for all the people, just do it for people who you want to be on the good sides of. 3. Amia is filled with ALOT of good surface drow, probably more than evil drow. Exploit this for your own ends. 4. If you can, give the Llothites the impression that you are helping them somehow, (spying or whatever). It should give you ample time to dance between the winning sides. Also, don't fight blantedly for one side against the opposed, or the other side may take note of this. Also, be wary of spies on either side. Thats my advice, you might to be able to think of something better. Good luck. EDIT: Appearing the victim works remarkably on the surface.

Inspiration : Yes Carbon Copy : No Jarlaxle is by far my favorite character in the R.A Sal books, However the only reason behind this is the Fact that, if i were to try to relate myself to A Character in Forgotten Realms Lore/ect. It would be Jarlaxle, therefore Given a route to have access to be able to RP this (Amia) I would like to persue it. Plus, the World needs more Chaotic People.

Amia doesen't need more Chaotic aligned people, amia needs unpredictable characters that are unpredictable in their actions, not unpredictable as in mad. Jarlaxle is a very good inspiration, I agree. he and entreri are the most interesting characters in Salvatores books. Wulfgar, Drizzt and the others are boring. Oppertunistic characters are very fun to play, just be prepared to get a spanking now and then from people who do not like your oppertunistic ways

Avoid soloing dragons at that level.
Also, you can never have too many chaotic people.

Well, if you want a leg up as a neutral drow starter, you might have to utilize L'Obsul's starter quests to get yourself to level 3. Otherwise, it's gonna be a long time of bats and rats kicking your ass.

One of my first Amia PCs, Sassin, was basically this. He was a CN drow who was basically out for himself, but never really went out of his way to be a bastard to people. It was fun playing the different sides back when there were three or four active drow houses, in Udos Dro'Xun's days. (Although, he was too much of an idiot to really "play" anyone...)

Think the drow version of Jack Sparrow, but with less metrosexual body language. And a bigger hat.

If you are going to base a char on Jack Sparrow, I, personally, will spank you if you do not emphasis on his metrosexual behaviour. That is the single most important characteristic that made him cool to start with.

Hasn't Amia already had a few Jack Sparrow tributes/rip-offs? Seen a few lurking about. Horrible things, they lack the ale soaked, rotting teeth, charm of Jack Sparrow, internet just doesn't convey his true attraction.

With all the stuff you can use, I'd really love to see an actual Pirate character. The ugly, swashbuckling Parrot familiar type.

The Drizzt-clone has been ragged on for so long now it must've gone out of style as a point of reference for "bad RP". If someone actually made a drow dual-wielding scimitars with a panther in leash, I'd nod approvingly to them.

That would still be too unoriginal. With the summon reskins, they should go for dual wielding panthers.

Elves are already pretty gay, and drow even moreso because of the reversed gender roles, so you've got the metrosexual part covered.

Jarlaxle wouldnt work well on amia anyway, because most characters are already outsiders. Thats the problem when everyone wants to be outside a culture while playing that race, you destroy the themes of playing an outsider by destroying the normal that fuels your perception as an 'other'. Way to shoot yourselves in the feet people lol noobs.
