Post subject:  Rogue? Fighter? Pure-Classes?

Sorry for the unclear subject, but I'm having a hard time answering these questions, and was hoping someone could answer a few for me without having to dig through dozens of other pages of posts.

1) How good is a pure-class character? I'm not looking for pure min/max abilities, and I know that a pure class character (i.e. one that only has one class) has disadvantages compared to multi-class ones, but is a pure class (besides bard) still viable?

2) I am a Strongheart halfling, and was considering going 26 Fighter, 2 Rogue (For UMD, Sneak Attack, and Evasion). Is there possibly a better alternative? Such as 7 Fighter, 2 Rogue, 19 Champion of Torm (for the increased saving throws).

3) I am interested in playing a Rogue, perhaps even a pure Level 30 Rogue, but have some reservations. Rogues seem very weak in the hit point department, and a lot of creatures are immune to sneak attack / critical hits. How much call is there for a rogue?

4) One idea I had was Rogue/Sorcerer, since I had an idea for a character based on that, but I'm not sure what ratio of levels I should use for such a build.

Ultimately, I am going to go with what is fun to RP regardless of the difficulty I have in being "powerful" in game mechanic terms. I'm just hoping for a little guidance. Thanks in advance!

There's a Building thread in this forum for all of your build and mechanics based questions.

A mate of mine has proven that pure sorcoresses seem to kick my Cleric's arse every time.

But, Won Won is right... there is a build thread if you're wondering about that kind of stuff.

Here's a link to the the build thread

You don't have to read all 50 pages before posting, though.
